This article talks about how to change the lookahead day in your project. When creating a project in Lean PlanDo, an option to set the lookahead day is provided as shown below.

Choosing Lookahead Meeting day during project creation

Choosing the lookahead meeting day fixes the weekly reporting cycle in your Lean PlanDo project. If at any point in time you want to change the Lookahead day, Lean PlanDo offers an option to do so.

First, go to your Project Settings.

The Project Settings shows your current Lookahead Day with a button to change it as shown in the below image.

Once you click on the Change button, you will be able to select the date to which you want to change your Lookahead day. In this example, since the current Lookahead day is Monday, you will be able to change it to any other day apart from Monday. Keep in mind that non-working days defined in your project calendar cannot be a Lookahead date. E.g. Project that has a 6-day working week with Sunday as a non-working day cannot have Lookahead date on Sunday.

The dates shown in the above option will be from the week after the Do-week (the first week in the lookahead) . Say you select Thursday as a new Lookahead day.

Click on Save to reflect your changes, and a message will appear in the Project Settings page that your Lookahead date will be changed to your selected date. Now, let's get back to your Lookahead.

Before Lookahead date is changed

After Lookahead date is changed

In this case, an interim Week from Monday - Wednesday will be created where you will confirm and lock the data for only those 3 days. After the interim week is confirmed and locked, the next lookahead will be generated with Thursday as the start of the week. Think of the interim week as a buffer or transition required for the change to take place.

First Do Week completed and ready to be confirmed and locked

When you confirm the Do-week after configuring the new lookahead day, a message is shown on confirmation.

Mini Do List from Monday to Wednesday

As you can see, the interim week is less than a normal 7 day week and is required to be confirmed before setting the lookahead day to the new date configured in project settings. Once the interim week is confirmed and locked, the Lookahead day change will take place.

Before confirming and locking the interim Lookahead

Upon confirming and locking the interim week, a message will appear saying that you have successfully changed your lookahead date to your chosen day, in this case, Thursday.
