Overview
Access Legal Compliance has been given a refreshed look and feel, bringing it in line with the wider Access product family. This first phase of the refresh covers the Homepage, File Audits, Complaints, Breach Reporting and PII Claims, delivering a cleaner, more modern interface with improved navigation and better task visibility.
The refresh is primarily a visual update. All existing features, data, settings and permissions remain exactly as they are. You will not be switched over automatically — you can move to the new design at your own pace and switch back to the classic interface at any time during the rollout period.
This is phase one. Remaining modules — including Risk Register, Undertakings, Money Laundering Suspicions, Client Feedback, Periodic Review and others — will be updated in future releases. We will communicate when each is ready.
Who Does This Affect?
This update is rolling out to all firms using Access Legal Compliance. The change is available to every user regardless of role — Data Inputters, Supervisors, Master Users, COLPs and COFAs will all see the new design option on their next login from 18 May 2026.
How users access the new design
When users log in on or after 18 May, they will see two ways to try the new design:
A banner at the top of the homepage — click to switch immediately, or dismiss with the × button. The banner will reappear on next login until the new design is tried.
A “Try the New Look” option in the side navigation — available on every page, so users can switch when they are ready, not just from the homepage.
Once switched, a “Switch to Classic” option appears in the same place in the left-side navigation, so users can return to the classic interface at any time during the rollout period.
What stays the same
All data — every record, task, attachment and historical entry is preserved exactly as it was.
All permissions — supervisors continue to see everything they always had, standard users only see their own records and tasks.
Module access — only modules your firm has enabled and that the user has been granted will be visible.
Firm configuration — offices, departments, practice areas, user groups and workflow setup all carry over.
What’s New
The following modules have been refreshed in this release. Each has been updated with the new design system used across the Access product family, with consistent navigation, typography and component styling throughout.
Homepage
The homepage has had the most significant update. A new left-side navigation menu lists all modules directly with icons, making it quicker to move between areas. The records, tasks and reports areas have been brought together into a single tabbed component.
What’s changed
Refreshed left-side navigation — modules are listed directly in the side menu rather than tucked under a dropdown. Home, Search, the full module list, Switch to Classic, Feedback, My Settings, Attachments and Account Settings are all accessible from one place, on every page.
Task List with tabs — the task list now has All Tasks, My Tasks and Group Tasks tabs, plus filters for Module, Status, Due Date and Assigned To, and a search-tasks field.
Task type now displayed — every task row shows its type (e.g. “Schedule”, “Corrective Action”, “Acknowledgement”, “Remedial Action”), so users can see what is required without opening the task first.
Quick action icons — each task row has action icons in the Actions column for the most common next steps.
Module visibility respects permissions — only modules the user has been granted access to are shown.
File Audits
The File Audits module has been refreshed throughout. The landing page now leads with a visual Audit Insights section, with records, tasks and reports brought together in a tabbed area below. The audit creation form has been broken into clear sections with navigation, and a read-only audit view has been introduced for viewing completed records.
What’s changed
Refreshed landing page — Audit Insights at the top with Audit Status (donut), Audits Completed By Month (trend line) and Audit By Department (stacked bar) charts, each with a View Data option to drop into the underlying records.
Tabbed records / tasks / reports area — the three areas now share one component with tabs, and consistent filters (All Status, All Auditors, All Question Sets, Additional Filters) plus a record search.
Schedule Audit and Add Audit — prominent actions in the top-right of the module page.
Section-based audit creation — the audit form is now split into Audit Details and Audit Questions sections with quick-jump buttons (“Go to Questions”, “Go to Outcome”, “Back to Details”) so users can move around long audits without scrolling.
Auto-save on audit creation — a clearly visible Auto-save toggle at the top of the form, so partially completed audits aren’t lost.
Question progress indicator — the Audit Questions section shows live progress (e.g. “1 of 4 questions completed”) so users always know how much is left to do.
Read-only audit record view — completed audits open in a clean read-only view with Audit, Notes, Attachments and History tabs and clearly separated Audit Details and Audit Questions & Responses sections.
Task and Print actions — standardised Task, Print and Actions buttons in the record header.

Across the System
A number of changes apply consistently across all of the refreshed modules to bring cohesion across the platform.

Consistent date fields — date pickers are now a uniform size across all forms.
Consistent placeholders — form field placeholder styling aligned across modules.
Consistent task windows — task scheduling and completion windows now share the same visual structure.
Alignment improvements — labels, fields and buttons aligned consistently across all forms.
Refreshed Office, Department and Practice Area fields — brought into line across every module.
Value to Your Firm
Faster everyday compliance
Task type labelling, the new task completion side panel and the in-place tab navigation reduce the number of clicks and page loads needed to get day-to-day compliance work done. Users can complete a task from the homepage without leaving the homepage, and review a record’s context before acting on it.
A clearer, less cluttered interface
Field sizing, alignment and spacing have been improved throughout. Filters, buttons and column headers behave consistently from one module to the next, so users don’t have to relearn each module’s quirks.
Better visibility of what needs doing
Task lists now show task type and module context, so users know what kind of action is required before they open it. Completed tasks no longer clutter active task views, and the new side panels surface record context alongside the task itself.
A safe, opt-in rollout
No firm is switched over automatically. Every user controls when they try the new design and can switch back to the classic interface at any time during the rollout. All firm settings, data and permissions are preserved, so there is nothing to reconfigure.
What’s Next
Future releases will roll the refreshed design out across the remaining modules — including Risk Register, Undertakings, Money Laundering Suspicions, Client Feedback, Periodic Review, Gift & Hospitality Register and Referrals. We will continue to communicate as each module is ready.
