Once you've completed the first part of your onboarding and created your Legal Nodes account, you’ll enter the second stage of onboarding. This will include attending Legal Discovery Sessions (LDS) and planning out your first Legal Projects. LDS are designed to help us understand your business needs and create a tailored legal strategy for your company.
What is a Legal Discovery Session?
A Legal Discovery Session is a 45-minute consultation with Industry Experts from the Legal Nodes team. New clients typically receive two of these sessions in their first month with Legal Nodes.
During these sessions, you can discuss your business needs, explore legal structure options, and start to shape a high-level legal strategy for your project.
While the sessions don't provide specific legal advice, they offer valuable insights into regulations and available options for your business.
If you have questions about specific jurisdictions, the Industry Expert will note these down for potential follow-up with relevant legal service providers.
After the second session, the team will begin preparing your Legal Projects and making them available for you to see on the Legal Nodes platform.
When you have decided on your preferred legal strategy, your first Legal Projects will appear in your account, containing suggested tasks to help you get started.
Why use Legal Discovery Sessions?
The goal of the Legal Discovery Session is threefold:
To understand your immediate and long-term business goals and any legal grey areas you may have.
To discuss any jurisdictional preferences you have related to your goals and needs and describe the pros and cons of each jurisdictional option.
To ensure all necessary information has been covered in sufficient detail for the Legal Nodes team to create your first Legal Projects.
Who conducts a Legal Discovery Session?
Each Legal Discovery Session is conducted by an Industry Expert from the Legal Nodes team who has extensive experience in corporate legal structuring. This expert will review global options and provide guidance on the best solution for your specific needs. For instance, if you're running a tech startup aiming to expand into multiple markets, your session will be led by an expert well-versed in international corporate structures and regulations. They'll be able to offer insights into various global options and help you identify the most suitable approach for your business goals.
Can I get legal advice during my Legal Discovery Session?
No, the legal structuring experts hosting the sessions cannot provide legal, tax, financial, investment, or other advice.
For instance, if you asked, "Should I set up a company in the Cayman Islands?" your expert can't directly advise you to do so or not. Instead, they can inform you whether businesses and founders in similar situations use the Cayman Islands or if other locations (such as Estonia, Delaware, or Dubai) might offer more appropriate solutions.
It's crucial to understand that Industry Experts cannot offer legal opinions or advice during these sessions. Rather, they use their expertise to guide you towards the best possible options. The information shared should not be considered legal advice, and these sessions are not legal advice Q&A sessions.

How can I book a Legal Discovery Session?
Once you’ve completed the first part of your onboarding and have access to your Legal Nodes account, you can speak to your VLO to get help with booking a session. We currently do not offer Legal Discovery Sessions without the purchase of a plan. Learn more on our pricing page.
