E2 Duties, taxes and US tariffs

What is added to your order for sales tax and US tariffs, and whether anything is due on delivery. collection: Shipping, delivery and duties

Written by Elise

Taxes and US tariffs are added at step 2 of your bag (Shipping), before you pay, so you see the full total first. What applies depends on where the order is shipped.

Steps: see what your order will cost

  1. Open your bag and click Continue to shipping.

  2. Wait for "Calculating shipping and taxes…" to finish.

  3. Read the order summary on the right. Tariffs, shipping, insurance and each tax appear above the Total.

  4. If you change the address (Edit under Customer and shipping details), taxes and tariffs are calculated again.

Orders shipped to the United States

  • Some styles are subject to US tariffs. On the PRODUCTS page, they have a small coral dot. Point at it to read "Subject to USA tariffs when shipped to the United States".

  • When your order ships to the US and includes these styles, the summary shows a line Section 338 USA tariffs. On the payment page, the same line is called US tariffs.

  • The line is calculated on those pieces only. Pieces without the dot add nothing.

  • The tariffs are added on your invoice, so there is nothing to pay on delivery.

Orders shipped within Canada

  • Canadian sales tax is added according to the province of the shipping address: GST or HST, plus QST in Québec.

  • Each tax shows on its own line, with its rate.

Orders shipped to France

  • No Canadian sales tax is charged.

  • Local import taxes or duties may be charged on delivery. They are paid by the person receiving the parcel.

Good to know

  • Portal orders ship only to Canada, the United States and France. For any other country, write to us at team@legaleriste.com before ordering.

  • The shipping address decides the taxes and tariffs, not where you live. If you ship an order straight to a customer in another country, that country's rules apply (see D8).

  • Your storefront customers in the US also see a US tariffs line on these styles when they buy.

  • Orders placed on the public Studio website (legaleriste.info) never show a tariff line: duties are already included in Studio prices.

  • The currency of your order also follows the shipping address: see D3.
