[New] Review: Overview and how to use it

Updated over 2 weeks ago

This article explains the features of the new LegalOn. For information on the current version’s product features, please refer to this page.

What is Review?

The Review feature automatically scans uploaded contracts to detect provisions that may pose a risk — such as clauses that are unfavorable or missing key terms — and highlights them as LegalOn Alerts.

Supported contract types

See the [Supported file types for uploading to LegalOn] for the available types.

File Requirements

⚠️ For long contracts with many pages, heavy file load may cause processing errors.

How to run a Review

1. Open the contract

  • Go to the [Contracts] list.

  • Click the file you want to check.

2. Prepare the file

  • If the file is a PDF, click [Convert to Word] in the File Detail view.

3. Start the review

  1. In the File detail view, click [Review].

  2. In Review details:

    • Check [LegalOn Alerts].

    • Select Contract type and Your position.

    • Click [Start review].

The file will open in the editor, with risk alerts shown on the right.

📌 To see how to interpret results, see: [How to view contract review results].

Quick review via Dashboard

You can also run a Review immediately after uploading:

  1. Upload your file by clicking [+ Select contract] or by drag-and-drop.
→ The top workspace you have “Contributor” or higher access for will be pre-selected.

  2. Check your Review details and click [Start review].

Run a Review with different settings

To run a check with a different contract type or role:

  1. Click [Review settings] at the top of your Review result.

  2. Adjust:

    • Check [LegalOn Alerts].

    • Select a new Contract type and Your position.

    • Click [Start review].

Changing settings will overwrite your previous Review progress.

🗂️ If you want to keep the old results, download them first.
See: [Downloading My Playbook review results].

Important Notes

  • Changing the Contract information (contract type or position) will not update your Review details automatically. Always adjust them directly.

  • For best performance, keep files within the recommended size range.

  • Multiple Playbook Alerts can be run together with Review. See [How to review using My Playbooks and view the results].
