[New] Handling tables in Comparison results

Updated over 2 weeks ago

This article explains the features of the new LegalOn. For information on the current version’s product features, please refer to this page.

Overview

When you use the Comparison feature, tables that exist within your contracts are included in the comparison scope.
However, there are important points to understand about how tables are displayed and exported.

Layout mismatches

  • The comparison function tries to match tables cell-by-cell.

  • If the compared tables have different structures (for example, different row or column counts), the system may not be able to display differences accurately.

  • Comparing different file formats (such as a PDF compared with a Word file) may also cause table alignment issues.

Formatting and Display rules

When tables appear in comparison results:

  • Cell size: Table cells are automatically adjusted to fit the comparison view.

  • Text alignment: All text in tables is aligned to the left, regardless of original formatting.

  • Styling: Bold text, strikethroughs, cell background colors, and other styling will be removed for a simplified display.

As a result, the table layout and appearance in the comparison results may differ from your source files.

Missing or Broken tables

  • Some tables may not display correctly, especially if they come from PDF files with complex layouts.

  • Tables that contain other tables inside them (nested tables) are not supported and will not appear in the comparison results.

Downloading comparison results and tables

  • When you download clause comparison results as an Excel file, tables are not included in the exported file.

  • If you want to retain tables, use your browser’s standard print function to print the screen or save the comparison results as a PDF instead.
