Setting Up Your Company Information
Adding information about your company helps the system recognize which party in a contract is you, and which is the other side.
How it works
When a contract is uploaded, it is scanned for party names and is compared against company names previously added in the system. If there’s a match, that party is recognized as your company. Anyone else is treated as a counterparty.
How parties are classified
Key terms:
Your company: the primary company name in your settings
Your company (alternate name): any additional names added for your company
Group company: a subsidiary or affiliated company you’ve added
Unrecognized party: a company name not found in your settings
The table below shows how the system categorizes parties depending on which company names appear in a contract:
Parties found in contract | Your company | Counterparty |
Your company + Unrecognized party | Your company | Unrecognized party |
Your company + Your company (alternate name) | Your company, Your company (alternate name) | ____ |
Your company + Group company | Your company | Group company |
Group company + Unrecognized party | Group company | Unrecognized party |
Group company ① + Group company ② | Group company ①, Group company ② | ____ |
Your company + Group company ① + Group company ② | Your company, Group company ①, Group company ② | ____ |
Your company + Group company + Unrecognized party | Your company | Unrecognized party |
💡Info:
Your company information is automatically created when your account is set up. Please review it before you start using the system.
A note on group companies: Group companies are generally treated as your company. However, there are two exceptions:
In a two-party contract (your company + group company), the group company is treated as a counterparty.
In a three-or-more-party contract (your company + group company + unrecognized party), only your company is recognized as your company. The group company is treated as unrecognized.
