You have the ability to control the dollar amount off, the percentage off you are offering, or a minimum spend threshold the client needs to meet for the discount to apply. You can issue discount codes individually (for a specific client after a great intro call, strong engagement, or to help someone commit) or in bulk (for example, offering 5% off for all attendees of a free event to encourage momentum and follow-through).
