When a broker creates an application submission in your Loanapp, a corresponding application is created in your CHNL. This then allows you to allocate the submission to staff members, manage statuses, and also send and receive backchannel requests to your brokers as you assess the application.

For the purposes of this article:

  • the broker is Barry Broker, of Brilliant Home Loans

  • the application is for Jason Starkers, refi

  • the Lender is Granite Home Loans

Loanapp creates an application in CHNL

When the broker is using your loanapp at the broker level to create and submit to you, a corresponding 'application' is also created in your CHNL.

Here Barry is working in your Loanapp, on an application for Jason Starkers:

A corresponding application has automatically been created in your CHNL.

Note that when Barry Broker accesses the Granite CHNL (via Loanapp), he can only see any applications he owns:

But when a Granite staff member accesses the Granite CHNL - they can see all applications:

Note that if the Current Coordinator is still Barry - this will mean that he is yet to submit the app to Granite, and it has not been allocated to anyone in on the Granite team.

When the Loanapp application is submitted to you, you can then take over the CHNL application and use for your backchannel, statuses, allocations and supporting documents management.

Allocating applications

When you have received the submission from the broker, and you are ready to assess the app, you can allocate the application to a credit team member, in two ways:

Via the applications grid:

If allocating via the grid, select (tick) the application you wish to allocate, then select the new 'coordinator' from the dropdown above, and click Allocate:

The Coordinator (or owner) of the application will be renewed to the selected credit assessor:

Via the Applications screen:

Alternatively, you can set via the applications screen. To do this, click on the pencil on the application grid to open the selected application:

You will see that the current coordinator is the broker:

To change, add the credit assessor as a 'Participant', check current coordinator, and be sure to click SAVE at the top of the sceen:

The coordinator will now be the selected credit assessor:

Setting the status of the application

As you work through the assessment of the application, you are able to set the status of the application by clicking the 3 dots on the application grid:

This allows you to set the status from a list of lender statuses, and also the opportunity to 'keep the application' or re-allocate to another person (which may be useful if the new status requires you to allocate the application to someone else):

Once set, the new sub-status can be viewed on an application by checking the "Show Sub-Status" checkbox:

Brokers can see the status

The really great thing about this functionality is that if the broker logs in to view the application via CHNL - they too will understand what the status of the application is. Here, Barry Broker is logged in and can only see his deals. He can see that Lisa is currently working on his deal - and the current sub-status:

Info Requests (Backchannel)

CHNL also allows you to send secure messages directly to any 'participant' to the application - for that party to then send back information or requested documents.

Remember: to assess your broker's application submission, you will have promoted their submission to a new version in Origin's appform. You will see that in your Origin Loanapp application, there is a 'Information Request' button. Its actually best not to use this method, as the info requests will be attached to Origin's version of the application. To create Backchannel Info Requests during your assessment, work with the CHNL functionality described here.

Create an Info Request:

You can trigger an Info Request from a number of different places.

From the application grid, click the 3 dots on the application you need to send a request on, and select info request:

From the Applications Screen, click Info Request:

And from many of the screens in supporting docs and decision support (if you are using them):

All of these buttons take you to the Info Request screen, where you can 'create new':

This will open up the "create info request" screen for you to enter details and send off to the recipient:

The recipient will then receive the info request on email, and be able to respond back to you securely with information or attached documents.

You will know that an info request has been returned because you will get a notification here:

Click on the bell, and you will be able to click through to the response you have received. You will be able to review the response, and then use it in your assessment.
