Lessn integrates with Xero to automate bill payments, supplier management, and reconciliation. Once connected, Lessn pulls in bills, suppliers, and payment details, ensuring that all payments made in Lessn are accurately recorded in your accounting system.
Connecting Xero to Lessn
You can connect Xero to Lessn during sign-up:
Click Connect Xero, select the Xero organisation, and authorise the connection.
If you didn’t connect Xero during sign-up, you can do so later:
Go to Businesses in Lessn and click Add Business.
Similar to when connecting Xero when signing up for Lessn, click Connect Xero, select the Xero organisation, and authorise the connection.Select the business you want to connect.
Once connected, Lessn will start syncing bills, suppliers, and payment methods so you can begin processing payments immediately.
How Data Flows Between Lessn and Xero
Unpaid bills and bills from Xero automatically appear in Lessn, along with eligible suppliers. When you pay a bill in Lessn, the transaction is processed using your selected payment method.
If the payment is successful, Lessn updates the bill status in Xero and marks it as reconciled. This removes the need for manual reconciliation and keeps your financial records up to date.
What Lessn Syncs from Xero
Lessn imports key financial data to streamline your payment process:
Bills – Unpaid bills from Xero are pulled into Lessn, ready for payment.
Suppliers – Suppliers with valid bank details are imported, allowing you to make direct payments.
Payment methods – Payment methods in Lessn are linked to their corresponding payment methods in Xero, ensuring consistency in transaction records.
How Lessn Updates Xero
When a payment is made in Lessn, the bill in Xero is automatically updated, helping to ensure your records are always accurate without requiring manual intervention. For this, Lessn requires a dedicated contact in Xero for booking payment entries, along with two accounts in the chart of accounts:
a clearing account for managing clearing payments
an account for processing fees
You can also choose whether Lessn should write card entries to your Xero account, giving you more control over how transactions are recorded.
Lessn Clearing Account
Payments made towards bills in Xero will be recorded against this account. By default an account 9999 - Lessn Clearing Account will be created if available.
Lessn Fees
If writing card entries to your Xero account is enabled, then Lessn will record a bank transaction against the credit card used. This will contain a line item for the payment of the invoice recorded against the Lessn Clearing Account and another line item for the fees charged for this invoice against this the Lessn Fees account. By default an account 9998 - Lessn Fees will be created if available.
