Change Who Can Use a Card

Every card is either public or private for each business it's linked to. This controls whether other people in that business can see and use it, or whether it is just you.

  • Public - anyone in the business with the owner or payer role can see and use the card

  • Private - only you can see and use the card

You can change a card's access from the business side or from your own account, whichever's easier.

If you haven't added your card to your account yet, follow the steps in our guide here.

Change Access from a Business

Go to Business. Then open the Payment Method tab. Each card is shown its current access as a tag next to it.

Click the tag next to the card you want to change.

In the Who can use this card? window, choose Public or Private.

Click Save.

Only the card's owner can make this change - if you're not the owner the tag is visible but can't be edited.

Change Access from Your Account

Go to your account settings, under Cards, click into the card you want to update.

Under Associated Businesses, you'll see every business the card is linked to and its current access for each. Click the tag next to the business to open the Who can use this card? window and change it there.

Choose Public or Private, and click Save.

Control Which Cards Are Used Per Business

Associating payment methods as Public gives you greater flexibility—especially if you're using Lessn to manage payments across multiple entities or businesses. It ensures the right card is used every time, with no surprises.
