About Practice Scenarios

Practice scenarios are risk-free, trial-and-error environments in which learners can master the fundamentals of interpersonal communication. These scenarios are independent of lessons and paths, and they're neither assigned nor graded. They're also self-paced, empowering learners to practice when they want, as often as they want.

Practice scenarios build learner confidence by giving them a space to rehearse without fear of judgment. They can iterate on a performance until they nail it, and then share their work with experienced colleagues to obtain feedback and measure their progress.

Create Practice Scenarios

Admins and users with content editing permissions can create On-Demand Practice scenarios by selecting "+ New Content" in the right-hand corner of the Content page.

After selecting New Practice Scenario, a dialog prompts the user to input:

  • A title

  • A description

  • A practice type: webcam, screen recording, audio, written, or chat conversation

Select Create Scenario to launch the scenario builder. Here creators add the directions they want learners to follow. Creators can also include:

  • Feedback criteria to help users understand how they'll be evaluated

  • Feedback providers, or the individuals and groups permitted to provide feedback

  • Example videos that model best practices and help learners craft great responses

Deploy and Manage Practice Scenarios

On the Content page, practice scenarios are distinguished by a star icon.

Selecting the scenario's title or its pencil icon will load the overview page. Here creators can:

  • Edit the scenario

  • View engagement data such as completions, total views, and unique views

  • Filter by group

  • Archive the scenario

  • Preview the scenario

  • Edit the scenario description

  • Make the scenario available to certain groups

Review Scenario Engagement Data

Engagement data consists of three components:

  • Scenario Completions: the number of times a scenario has been completed

  • Scenario Views: the total number of views

  • Unique Learner Views: the number of unique views (one learner = one view)

Scenario Completions

Scenario Completions list all learners who've completed a practice, the date and time of their last completion, and their total practice completions.

Select a user's name to view all of their submissions.

Practice Scenario Reports

Admins and users with on-demand scenario ownership can view two on-demand reports. Navigate to the Insights tab, then click More Reports.

  1. The On-Demand Practice Users Report lists all users with an on-demand practice activity.

  2. The On-Demand Practice Scenarios Report lists your company's practice scenarios created and information on how users are engaging with this content.

Learner Point of View

Once a group is added, the practice scenario will appear on each member's Learn tab under the heading On-Demand Practice.

After selecting an available scenario, users can begin practicing the task in question. Users can record responses without leaving Seismic Learning, or they can upload files recorded outside the platform.

Users can review their recordings before uploading them. They can then choose to:

  1. Try Again, allowing them to record another response

  2. Save and Ask for Feedback, and specify feedback respondents

  3. Save without Feedback - which sends users to the My Previous Responses tab.

💡 Tip: Check out this article for more information on peer feedback.

My Previous Responses

On the My Previous Responses tab, users can view previous completions, delete a previous response, or request feedback on a submitted response.

📝 Note: Scenario creators can view all saved responses.
