How to Import Multiple People into a Bello Project

Need to add a group of participants, clients, or team members in one go? Bello makes it super efficient with its bulk import feature. Whether you’re prepping for a big study or just trying to save time, this step-by-step guide will walk you through everything—from downloading the template to confirming your upload.


Step-by-Step: Importing Users Like a Pro

Step 1: Navigate to the “People” Tab

  1. From your project dashboard, look to the left-hand menu.

  2. Click on “People”.

This will take you to the main screen where all users connected to this project are listed.


Step 2: Open the Import People Interface

At the top of the “People” page, you’ll see two key buttons:

  • + Create Person

  • Import People

Click “Import People” to bring up the import modal where everything happens.

Step 3: Download the Import Template (Optional—but Highly Recommended)

Before you start uploading, you can use Bello’s pre-formatted template:

  1. In the import modal, find and click “Download Template” (usually at the top right).

  2. This gives you an Excel file with columns for:

    • Email

    • Username

    • Mobile (optional)

    • Role (required)

    • Age Range (optional)

    • Gender (optional)

    • State (optional)

    • Pets (optional)

    • Kids (optional)

Open the file and start filling in your users. Be sure to follow the example rows provided.

💡 Need ideas for tags? Try “Group A”, “Returning”, “NYC Panel”, “Healthcare”—whatever helps you organize participants.

✅ Pro Tip: Save your file in .xlsx format and make sure there are no missing required fields (like email or role).


Step 4: Upload Your Completed File

  1. Back in Bello, click the “Upload File” button.

  2. Select the Excel sheet you just completed.

  3. Once uploaded, you’ll see a preview of the users listed in a table inside the modal.

If anything’s off (e.g., missing roles or emails), Bello will highlight it for you to fix.


Step 5: Add People Manually (Alternative Option)

Just want to add a few folks without messing with a spreadsheet? No problem.

  1. Inside the import modal, click “Add Person”.

  2. A row will appear where you can manually enter:

    • Display Name

    • Email

    • Phone (optional)

    • Tags (optional)

    • Role

🔴 Fields marked in red are required. You’ll need to fill them out before continuing.

Want to add more than one person this way? Just click “Add Person” again and repeat.


Step 6: Finalize Your Upload

Once you’ve either uploaded a file or manually entered everyone:

  • Click the “Upload File” button in the bottom-right corner of the modal.

That’s it! Bello will import the users and drop them right into your project’s People list.


Step 7: Confirm and Make Adjustments

Now that your users are imported:

  1. Go back to the People tab in your project.

  2. Review the newly added people.

  3. Click the three-dot menu next to any name to:

    • Edit their info

    • Remove them
