Lex Actions

Lex Actions are AI-powered tools built into the document editor that help you write, review, and improve your content.

TL;DR: Use Lex Actions to summarize, review, rewrite, or enhance any document - either across the full document or on a specific selection of text.

Accessing Lex Actions

To use Lex Actions, open any Document in Lexful and click Edit to enter edit mode. In the formatting toolbar, click the star icon (✦) to open the Lex Actions menu.

All Content Actions

These actions apply to the entire document and are always available from the Lex Actions menu.

  • Summarize - Generates a TL;DR of the full document.

  • Review for completeness - Checks for missing sections or gaps in coverage.

  • Check for outdated info - Cross-references other assets to flag potentially stale content.

  • Standardize formatting - Normalizes headings and lists for consistency.

  • Write - Tell Lex what to write and it will generate content for you.

Selection Actions

Highlight any portion of text in the document to unlock additional actions in the Lex Actions menu.

  • Improve writing - Fixes grammar, clarity, and tone.

  • Simplify - Reduces complexity for easier reading.

  • Make professional - Rewrites the selection in a formal tone.

  • Expand into section - Adds detail and structure around the selected text.

  • Turn into table - Converts the selection into a table format.

  • Turn into steps - Reformats the selection as a numbered procedure.

  • Translate - Translates the selection into another language.

  • Replace - Tell Lex what to do with the selected text and it will rewrite it accordingly.

💡 Selection actions only appear when text is highlighted. If you don't see them, make sure you have an active text selection before opening Lex Actions.
