Bloat is a syndrome that affects some dogs, especially those with deep chests. Breeds most commonly affected include Great Danes, Greyhounds and Basset Hounds. In such cases, the stomach expands like a balloon and twists itself, causing death. There are several possible causes of bloat, but no definitive answer has been forthcoming.

Our dog foods are highly concentrated. That means that a dog doesn’t have much food in the stomach after eating and will not be prone to flipping over. With a supermarket pet food brand may require 4-6 cups of food per meal based on your dog's size, with our premium formulas it's more like 2-3 cups (basically half). Thus, we believe, the likelihood is diminished.

If you're interested to know what happens to our food once your dog swallow it, try this experiment. Add a few kibbles to a cup of water. You'll notice that our kibble barely swells, which means it won't greatly expand in size when it's in your dog's stomach.

Additionally, our foods do not contain dyes or artificial preservatives which some believe causes dogs to be hyperactive and thus more likely to run around after eating. If you believe your dog is susceptible to bloat, please limit their exercise immediately after eating.
