There are different ways to harness the power of plants for skin care.  Life's Abundance Skin Care products are predominately made from botanical extracts (Facial Cleanser, Facial Moisturizer and Body Lotion) and essential oils (Serum and Body Lotion). If you are wondering what the difference is between these two, here is a brief overview:

Extract
A solution made by removing desirable substances from a plant without changing their qualities. There are different extraction techniques including maceration, distillation and infusion; and different solvents, typically water, alcohol or acetic acid.   The technique and solvent used will vary depending on the qualities of the plant.

Essential Oil
Concentrated volatile oils that give plants their characteristic aromas and that have other desirable properties. Essential oils can be extracted from plants through water or steam distillation, or through pressing.
