If you have a Colorado address you may have noticed a new fee on orders that are shipped to you. Here’s some helpful information to explain Colorado’s policy.

What is the “Colorado State Delivery” Fee?

Effective July 2022, The State of Colorado implemented a $0.27 fee on retail deliveries within the state (retail delivery fee). Any order that is subject to sales tax and being delivered to a Colorado address will be charged this fee. Colorado is the first state to administer a retail delivery fee tied to sales tax collections.

Is this Fee Per Box?

No. The retail delivery fee is based on each sale. If you purchase a number of items all at the same time, you’ll pay only one retail delivery fee. This is the case if your order ships in multiple boxes, or even at different times. Alternatively, if you order a number of items and complete the purchase of each item at different times, the retail delivery fee is charged on each sale.

Why is the “Colorado State Delivery Fee” Line Item $0?

The $0.27 is included in the Sales Tax line item. Wondering why? Because the fee is applied by accounting software, the $0.27 has been added into the Sales Tax line item.

Are Postal Service Deliveries Exempt?

No. Regardless of the carrier - corporation or government entity - when deliveries are transported by motor vehicle the fee is applied.

My Refund is $0.27 Short. Why?

Per the State of Colorado, the $0.27 delivery fee is non-refundable.
