If our church already has a CCLI or CVLI, do we still need to purchase a movie license to be able to play a movie for our congregation?

Yes. The Church Copyright License (CCLI) allows you to copy and use songs only. It does not cover movies or movie clips. While the Church Video License (CVLI) allows you to play full or portions of movies and videos, it only covers select production companies that participate in the program. At the time, Lifeway films products are not covered by this license.

To show a movie in your church the law requires that you have a license. With a Lifeway licensed movie, however, your church can show a multiple run of the same movie for the length of the license (typically 12 months from purchase). For every movie license that you purchase from Lifeway, you'll receive a DVD of the movie you've chosen, plus a certificate (license) to show that particular movie for a specific length of time.
