Naming & hierarchy overview

Workspace

The highest level of hierarchy inside liftOS. A Workspace represents an organization as a whole and has Admin and User in permission levels.

Section

Sections are like Notion Team Spaces, they help organize teams, workloads and work categories at the highest level. Section members can have Admin and Member roles. Section members automatically view all Spaces under that section, unless if the access is manually revoked in Space sharing settings.

e.g. Product, Marketing, Finance, UI/UX

Space

Spaces are where work takes place. Spaces are used to work on any project with tools and people.

e.g. Product Sprint, Website Launch, Employee X Onboarding

Folder

Folders are inside of Spaces and help you organize your Apps in the sidebar for you or other team members who are in the same Space.

Apps

Apps like Files, Notes, Todos, and others help you to get work done. Apps can be in multiple places at the same time, Spaces, Home, Notifications, Search and some other components might display a preview or full version of the Apps but Apps are mainly inside of your Spaces and can be added using the App Library.

Overview

  1. Set up your Sidebar and prepare your Workspace for your team

  2. Invite members and assign roles

  3. Add Apps and start working

Setting up your sidebar & Workspace

  1. Set-up your Sections in the sidebar to organize teams, projects, departments, and similar.

    1. E.g. if you are a startup, Product, Design, Marketing, Finance can be some of the sections you create for your team.

      1. Sections can have unique

        1. Title

        2. Icon

        3. Member permissions

  2. Invite or assign users to spaces and manage their viewing permissions

    1. Both Admins and Members can see and work in the Spaces inside Sections (unless disabled by another Admin)

    2. Admins have more critical action permissions like deleting a Section or removing members from it.

  3. Add your Apps inside of your Spaces and start working as a team
