Cancelling your shift

In an ideal world you'd never have to cancel a shift, but we know that's not realistic. Here's what to do if you can no longer work a shift.

What happens if I can't make the shift anymore?
You'll need to cancel the shift through the app, as well as letting the hirer know. You'll be prompted to leave a message for the hirer as you go through the process of cancelling in-app, so this is the ideal place to get in touch.

How do I cancel my shift in the app?

Open the app menu, go to 'My shifts' and select the shift you want to cancel, then tap the 'cancel' button. You can give your reason for cancelling and leave a message for the hirer here.

When should I cancel my shift?

As soon as possible. The earlier you cancel your shift, the better the outcome for both you and the hirer; the hirer will have more time to find a replacement worker, and if you give plenty of notice your profile won't be affected. Cancel within 72 hours of the shift start time, however, and a 'late cancellation' will be added to your profile, meaning your reliability rating will go down and it'll be harder for you to pick up shifts in the future. Read more about the implications of late cancellations here.

What happens if I don't cancel, but don't show up to the shift?

You'll be reported as absent by the hirer, and you'll get a 'no show' added to your profile (read our policy on no shows here). Your reliability rating will also go down. No showing really isn't fair to the hirer, as if you don't cancel, they can't get someone in to take your place. So if you can no longer work a shift, you need to make sure you cancel through the app.
