How do I pay tax through limber?

Payroll at limber is run on a PAYE (pay as you earn) basis. This means that tax and national insurance contributions are calculated and deducted from your pay according to how much you earn in a given week.

You will be able to view the breakdown of earnings, tax, national insurance etc. in your payslip, which will be emailed to you when we run payroll each week. See this article for more info on pay and payroll.

How does limber know how much tax I should be paying?

After you've completed your first shift, you'll be prompted to answer some tax-related questions. These will help us to set you up on payroll under the correct tax code. You do not need to provide a P45 from your former employer.

Once you have been set up on payroll, information about your earnings will be sent to HMRC weekly, via our payroll software. This allows HMRC to keep track of the amount you earn through limber, and through any other employment you undertake, and adjust your tax accordingly. If you believe you have been taxed incorrectly, you'll need to contact HMRC. See this article for more info.

If I'm a student, do I still need to pay tax?

Short answer: yes. Even if you are a student, you are still assessed for tax purposes according to how much you earn. So if you're earning above the threshold for paying tax whilst at uni, then you will have tax deducted from your pay. Take a look at this government web page for more info.
