Lingo's global search helps you quickly find content across all of the kits you have access to. Whether you're looking for a specific file, browsing by keyword, or looking for the logos page, search puts everything at your fingertips.

Results are split into two categories:

  • Jump to - Kits, Pages, and Headings

  • Assets - All of the Assets that match your search

How search works

There are two parts of each query: keyword searches and filters.

Keyword searches

When open search and type in a query, this is a keyword search. Keyword searches will match asets by comparing:

  • name

  • notes

  • tag

  • Full text of documents (PDF, DOCX, TXT)

Keyword searches always use the AND operator. Fro exmple, If you search for "primary logo", You will get results that include both primary AND logo.

Note: OR searches with multiple keywords aren't currently supported.

Filters

Filters help you narrow down results based on specific criteria like Asset type, Kit, orientation, and date range. You can combine multiple filters to get more precise results.

When you use multiple filters, Lingo combines them with either the AND or OR operators. Whether the AND or OR operator is used depends on the filters you're combining:

  • When combining the same filter multiple times, Lingo uses the OR operator e.g. type:Images OR type:Documents

  • When combining different filters, Lingo uses the AND operator e.g. type:Images AND orientation:Square

Adding filters

You can use the filter panel to add filters to you search. You can also type in filters using filter prefixes directly into the search bar. For example, to filter by Asset type, you can type type:Images to only see image results. You will get filter suggestions as soon as you type the colon (:) after the filter prefix.

Available filters:

Searching from different locations

Where you are when you begin a search may affect what results you see:

  • From a Kit - Opens filtered to that Kit's Assets

  • From a Portal - Searches across all Kits in that Portal

You can always remove the filter to widen your search to other Kits.

Tips for better results

  • Use specific terms rather than generic ones

  • Combine multiple search terms to narrow results (remember, all terms must match)

  • Use filters with keywords for more precise results (e.g., logo type:SVG)

  • Search for file extensions to find specific formats

  • Remember that Asset names, notes, and Tags are all searchable—you don't need to duplicate names as Tags
