Deleting Your Account

Learn how to permanently delete your Lingo user account and what happens to Spaces you own.

Deleting your Lingo account permanently removes your profile and login credentials. This is different from deleting a Space—your account is your personal identity across all Spaces.

Before you delete

Consider what happens when your account is deleted:

  • You lose access to all Spaces — You'll be removed from every Space you're a member of

  • Your contributions remain — Assets you uploaded and content you created stay in their Spaces

  • You can't undo this — Account deletion is permanent

If you own a Space

You cannot delete your account while you're the Owner of any Space. First, you'll need to either:

Once you're no longer an Owner of any Space, you can proceed with account deletion.

What happens to your data

  • Your profile — Permanently deleted

  • Your email — Removed from our system (you can create a new account with this email later)

  • Content you created — Remains in the Spaces where it was created, but may show as "deleted user"

  • Spaces you were a member of — Continue to exist; other members aren't affected

Need a break instead?

If you just want to step away temporarily, consider asking a Space Admin to remove you as a member instead of deleting your account. You can always be re-invited later.
