What to Know Before Combining eDoc Templates

You can send more than one eDoc template in a single eDoc to a client—but there’s an important detail to keep in mind: field names.

Why Field Names Matter

By default, eDoc templates use the same standard field names (like "Signature Field 1", "Text Field 1", etc.).

If you combine multiple templates with the same field names, then when your client fills out one field (like "Text Field 1") on the first form, that info will automatically copy to matching fields in the other forms.

How to Avoid This Issue

To prevent duplicate data from appearing across forms, you have two options:

  1. Send Templates Individually:
Send each eDoc template on its own. This keeps each form’s fields separate, so the client can enter different information.

  2. Rename the Fields:
Before combining templates, make sure each field has a unique name. That way, fields won’t auto-fill across forms.
