Conditional Questions

Conditional Questions on Requests are questions that only appear for the recipient(s) if they answer a specific prerequisite question first.

Example:

Prerequisite Question:
Did your marital status change last year? (Yes/No)

  • If the assignee selects "Yes", they will see the conditional question:
Please explain the change to your marital status last year. (Short Answer)

  • If the assignee selects "No", the conditional question above will not appear.

To Create a Conditional Question:

Conditional Questions can only be based off of Yes/No questions. When creating Y/N questions in a Request, you'll see a toggle called Conditions after typing the question.

You can edit an existing templated Request or create a new Request from scratch by following these steps:

  1. Create a Y/N question.

  2. Turn on the Conditions toggle.

  3. Select whether the conditional question should appear when the client answers "Yes" or "No".

  4. Choose how you'd like your client to respond to the conditional question: Short Answer, Y/N, or File Upload.

  5. Type your conditional question in the provided field.

  6. Use the blue circular + icon to add more conditional questions as needed.

How will this appear to my clients/assignees?

On Desktop, conditional questions will appear directly below the original (prerequisite) question and will be labeled with a number like "X.1".

On Mobile, only one question is shown at a time, so the only indication that a question is conditional will be the "X.1" numbering. Because of this, it's important to write your conditional questions clearly enough that the client understands what they’re referring to—without seeing the prerequisite question at the same time.
