What Are List Defender's Tags & Meanings

When I use List Defender, what tags can I expect to be added to my CRM system, and what are their meanings?

Below is a list of tags that are used when List Defender scans your CRM contacts. Each of these tags is applied for the reason given. This is tremendously helpful in keeping your contacts clean and ensuring you send emails to a well-maintained list.

Status Tags:

  • ListDefender: Status = Green (Send Responsibly)

  • ListDefender: Status = Red (Do Not Send)

  • ListDefender: Status = Yellow (Re-Engage)

Validation Tags:

  • ListDefender: Valid Check = Invalid Structure (Address is not in the standard email address format)

  • ListDefender: Valid Check = Missing DNS (Address domain does not have a DNS record)

  • ListDefender: Valid Check = Missing MX (Address domain does not have an MX record)

  • ListDefender: Valid Check = Invalid MX (Address domain has an invalid MX record)

  • ListDefender: Valid Check = Not Found (Mail server reports address does not exist)

  • ListDefender: Valid Check = Mailbox Full (Mail server reports the mailbox is full)

Quality Check Tags:

  • ListDefender: Quality Check = Is Tag (Address contains a tag - e.g. tag+name@example.com)

  • ListDefender: Quality Check = Is Free (Address is from a free email provider - e.g. Gmail, Yahoo)

  • ListDefender: Quality Check = Is Role (Address is a role-based email - e.g. sales@, support@)

  • ListDefender: Quality Check = Is Typo (Address likely contains a typo in the domain)

  • ListDefender: Quality Check = Is Vulgar (Examples: Bad words, body parts, words you would not say to your parents)

  • ListDefender: Quality Check = Is Disposable (Address is from a disposable email provider - e.g. Mailinator, temporary email addresses)

  • ListDefender: Quality Check = Is Catchall (Address is from a catchall domain)

  • ListDefender: Quality Check = Is Suspicious (Address contains suspicious words or characters - e.g. Name includes trash, spam, disposable, junk, random letters and numbers, invalid characters)

Engagement Tags:

  • ListDefender: Engagement Check = High Engagement

  • ListDefender: Engagement Check = Low Engagement

  • ListDefender: Engagement Check = Never Sent (Contact has never received an email from you)

  • ListDefender: Engagement Check = Never Engaged (Contact has never engaged with your emails)

Contact Tags:

  • ListDefender: Contact = Is New Contact (Contact is new to your list)

  • ListDefender: Contact = Is Disqualified New Contact (Contact did not engage in the configured time frame and was disqualified)

** For the tag "ListDefender: Contact = Is Disqualified New Contact" to be applied, both boxes below must be checked. When enabled, this setting will automatically mark a contact as "Red" and apply the "Is Disqualified New Contact" tag if the new contact does not engage within the XX number of days you’ve specified. **

Trigger Tags:

  • ListDefender: Trigger = Contact Scanned

  • ListDefender: Trigger = New Contact Scanned

Email Provider Tags:

  • ListDefender: Email Provider Check = Is Google

  • ListDefender: Email Provider Check = Is Microsoft

  • ListDefender: Email Provider Check = Is Yahoo

  • ListDefender: Email Provider Check = Is Apple

  • ListDefender: Email Provider Check = Is Other Email Provider

Can I Change Tag Names & Colors:

Currently, no you can not change the tag names or colors in the ListDefender system
