FormDefender - Email Verification for Proxy/VPN Submissions

FormDefender now includes enhanced protection against spam and bot attacks for forms. Only sophisticated attacks submitting through VPNs or proxy connections must complete email verification, while regular users submit normally.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

How It Works

  1. When a user submits a form:

    • Proxy/VPN users: Must complete an email verification step before the submission is accepted.

    • Regular users: Submit forms as usual with no additional steps.

Enabling Email Verification

  1. Open the FormDefender configuration for the form.

  2. Locate the checkbox labeled “Require all submissions to complete Email Verification.”

  3. Check the box

  4. Click Save

  5. The feature is immediately active.

Benefits

  • Stops spam and bot submissions from VPN/proxy users.

  • Protects your contact lists from fake entries.

  • Maintains a smooth experience for legitimate visitors.

  • Easy to enable — no form code changes required (you can check the box and enable it without having to copy the form code again).

Tips

  • Use this alongside standard FormDefender settings for sophisticated attacks.

  • Keep an eye out for suspicious activity; our team continues to enhance defenses against aggressive attacks.

This is what the process looks like for your contacts filling out the form

Once the site visitor sends the verification email, our system will confirm and, if successful, will then auto-submit the form.

FAQ

Q: Will regular users be impacted by this?
A: No. Only submissions coming from VPNs or proxies are prompted for email verification. Legitimate users will submit as normal.

Q: Do I need to update form embed code?
A: No. Enabling the setting in FormDefender is sufficient.
