Create a Legacy Filter in the Message Authoring Page

Legacy Filters can be added directly in the message creation experience. This is often done for a one-off message that isn't sent to your standard contacts.

To begin building navigate to Messages > Email New Email Broadcast or View Saved Email.

πŸ’‘ You will need to select the correct list from list navigation dropdown menu.

  1. Scroll down to the Filtering section.

  2. Select Edit Filter in the Legacy Filter Settings tab.

  3. Select a criteria type from the first drop-down.

  4. Select additional criteria from the second drop-down.

  5. When the filter build is complete, click Update to view the contact count.

  6. To apply this to the message, click Apply Filter.

    1. To make additional changes, click the Edit Filter icon.

    2. When complete, click Apply Filter to apply changes to the filter.

  7. πŸ’‘ To Save the filter for reuse.

    1. Select the Save As Audience checkbox.

    2. Enter a Name.

    3. Click Save & Apply Filter - this will save the filter to the Audience Dashboard and apply the filter to the message.

Selecting Cancel will exit the builder and work will not be saved.

Create a Saved Audiences in the Audience Page

Creating a Saved Audience within the audience page is most commonly used when developing a group of criteria that will be re-used often, such as Active contacts.

  1. Navigate to Contacts > Email Contacts Audiences.

πŸ’‘ You will need to select the correct list from list navigation dropdown menu.

  2. Click Add New Audience.

  3. Name your audience so it is easily identifiable.

  4. Follow the same steps listed above (3-6) on building a Filter.

  5. Click the Save button on the bottom of your screen.

Manage Saved Audiences

You can view Smart Audience, Saved Audiences or CRM Audiences* in your account by navigating to Contacts > Email Contacts Audiences.

Edit

The criteria of a Smart or Saved audience can be edited by clicking the name of the audience.

πŸ’‘ Important things to note when editing audiences:

  1. Any edits applied and saved will update the previously saved audience.

  2. Edits made to a Smart or Saved audience will not apply to a version of the Smart or Saved audience that is currently applied elsewhere in the application.

  3. To create an updated version of an audience, follow step 7 in the Create a Legacy Filter in the Message Authoring Page section.

  4. CRM Audiences cannot be edited within this page.

Delete

Saved or CRM Audiences can be deleted by selecting the trash can icon to the left of the name of the audience.

Create Filters using Multiple Operators and Filter Groups

When combining multiple filters there are two different options: combining individual filters and combining filter groups. These two functions control how the criteria are evaluated to determine who meets the final filter.

Combining Individual Filters

Combining individual filters takes your entire contact list and narrows that list down by excluding those that do not meet the criteria of your filter. This is accomplished by evaluating the operator (and/or/and not/or not) in the row above.

Example 1: Engaged Opener and Recent Purchaser*

Contacts that have opened an email after May 1st, 2022 AND purchased in the last 60 days, combine two individual filters.

This filter identifies two groups of contacts: recent openers who opened since May 2022 and recent purchasers who have purchased within the last 60 days. The AND operator between the criteria means that only contacts who are in both groups will receive the email.

Example 2: Order Date and Product Details*

Customers who purchased from the shoe category in their last order, within the last 6 months.

πŸ’‘ Helpful Tips

  • Filtering based on purchases can reference either or both information about the order (such as order total, AOV, order date, etc.), and information about the specific products purchased (such as SKU, category, meta data, etc.).

  • When using Additional Options, the data is calculated used an AND operator.

Using Product and Purchase Data*

Understanding the Product Summary

The information about a customer's order is sent to Listrak via your integration. Some integrations provide this information automatically and some require you to send over additional files. View Listrak's Product and Data Summary to learn more about the information that you're sending Listrak and how to optimize this.

To access the Product Summary navigate to Solutions > Solutions Data Summary > Product Information > Product Summary. If you have multiple merchants, select the applicable merchant from the drop-down menu in the upper left-hand corner.

Combining Filter Groups

Filter groups function like the parenthesis in a math problem. They allow you to specify the actions that apply to some of the contacts you wish to send to, but may not apply to all contacts. For each of these unique actions that apply to a subset of your target, you would build a filter group. You can also think of this as answering a question like "Who are the contacts who want to receive the majority of my emails?"

πŸ’‘ Helpful Tips for using field groups

  1. Click New Filter Group > Select Operator > Click Update.

  2. Repeat for the number of Filter Groups needed.

Example 3: Opt-down Status with Content-type Interests

Contacts whose email preference center's opt-down status* is either weekly OR daily AND they selected interests* in either holiday OR sale emails.

*Data collected from a Listrak email preference center
