In the past, the advice was to only offer one ingredient at a time for 2-3 days to watch for an allergic reaction or an upset tummy. This is now considered “old school” advice, and outdated for most babies. Some pediatricians might recommend the 2-3 day wait rule for a specific reason based on your family history, and you should always follow their advice. However, if you don’t have a family history of allergies you should feel comfortable advancing to a variety of ingredients as quickly as you’d like. Variety is such an important part of starting solids, and the more diverse your baby’s diet is, the more nutrient-rich it will be!
