Message Variants lets you A/B test up to 5 versions of your initial SMS message on any flow. LiveRecover splits incoming traffic evenly across your active variants and tracks performance for each one in real time.

Message Variants is currently in beta. To activate it on your account, contact your LiveRecover account manager or email support@liverecover.com.

How it works

When you add variants to a flow's initial message step, LiveRecover distributes new conversations evenly across all active variants. Each variant accumulates its own stats — sent, reply rate, recovery rate, and opt-out rate — which you can compare in the Variant Analysis panel on the flow page.

The variant with the highest reply rate is automatically marked with a Best badge once enough volume has accumulated.

Adding variants

1. Open Flows → Edit.

2. On the initial message step, click Add variant.

3. Enter the alternate message copy. Standard placeholders ({Contact Name}, {Agent Name}, {Store Name}) are supported.

4. Repeat for up to 4 additional variants (5 total per workflow, including Control).

5. Save the workflow. Traffic begins splitting on the next incoming conversation.

Archiving a variant

To remove a variant from rotation without deleting its historical data:

1. Delete the variant

2. Save. Traffic redistributes across the remaining active variants.

Reading the Variant Analysis panel

The panel appears on the flow detail page once variants are configured. Each card shows:

• Sent — Number of messages delivered for this variant.

• Replied — Replies received, as a count and as a percentage of sent.

• Recovered — Conversations that led to a completed checkout, as a count and percentage.

• Opted out — Recipients who replied STOP, as a count and percentage of sent. Excluded from the reply rate calculation.

Confidence levels

The Confidence badge at the top of the panel indicates how statistically reliable the current data is:

• High — 500+ sends per variant. Results are reliable.

• Medium — 100–499 sends per variant. Results are directional.

• Low — Under 100 sends per variant. Not enough data to draw conclusions.

The Best badge is only assigned to variants with at least 30 sends.

Promoting a winner

After a 1000 sends, the winner is picked automatically and all traffic is diverted to that variant.

Do opt-outs count toward the reply rate?

No. STOP replies are tracked separately and excluded from reply rate.

Are my existing workflows affected?

No. Workflows without variants behave exactly as before.
