For bookings made through LiveLocal, all payments are processed in a consistent manner, which is super easy to follow:
Your host has 3 days to accept your booking. If your host declines or does not respond, no charge is made and any temporary hold is released.
After your booking is accepted, you will be charged the full amount. Your payment will be held securely by Stripe Inc.
LiveLocal does not receive your payment, however is able to pass instructions to Stripe to ensure that our cancellation policy is adhered to, which means ensuring Stripe processes any refunds to you accordingly.
After you check-in to your accommodation, you can release your payment from Stripe to your host. This means marking your payment as "Completed" in the LiveLocal website.
This is best illustrated by the below timeline:
What if I want my money to go straight to my host?
Not a problem! If you don't want your payment to be held securely by Stripe until check-in day, you can opt to have your payment go straight to your host. All you need to do is click "completed" on your booking in the LiveLocal website.
⚠️ A word of caution though - once you click "completed" on your booking, this is not reversable. This means LiveLocal permanently loses the ability to facilitate a refund of your payment in accordance with our cancellation policy.
But if you trust your host, and you want them to get paid up front, this is entirely your choice and our website offers the functionality for you to select this option.
