Add-ons
You can find the shop's analytics under Add-ons. The shop tells your website what the buyer does in the shop: which product they open, what they add to the cart, when they go to checkout and when the order is completed. Liveto's tracking script forwards this information to the analytics tools you already use on your website, such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel.
The shop does not send data to Google or Meta itself, and it does not install these tools on your website. Setup requires three things: analytics switched on in the shop settings, the tracking script added to your website, and your own analytics tools installed on your website.
Switching on analytics
In the shop settings, open Modules & Add-ons and select Analytics.
Collect user activity data – switch this on if you want to collect analytics from the shop. Without this, the shop sends nothing to your website.
Third-party analytics – select the services you want the data forwarded to: Google Analytics, Meta Pixel and/or Snowplow.
Remember to save your changes.
Adding the tracking script to your website
Add the line below to every page where the shop is embedded. The same line works for all your shops. You can find this script in the Liveto admin panel under Event Shops 2.0 > Guides > Setting Up Analytics.
Placement – add the line to the head section of the page, before the shop's own embed code.
Google Tag Manager – you can also add the same line as a Custom HTML tag triggered by Initialization - All Pages.
data-cookieconsent="ignore" – this attribute tells Cookiebot that the script may load immediately. The script handles cookie consent itself and forwards nothing before the buyer gives permission. If the script is blocked until consent, any actions taken before consent are lost and the buyer's choice is not passed on to the shop.
Your own analytics tools
The tracking script forwards data to the tools already on your website, but it does not install them. Make sure the base code for the tool you use is on the page:
Google Analytics – Google Tag Manager or the gtag code. In Tag Manager, your GA4 event tags must read the ecommerce data from the dataLayer.
Meta Pixel – the pixel base code from Meta Events Manager.
Snowplow – your own Snowplow tracking code on the page. The script detects the most common installations automatically.
Tracked events
The data is already in each service's own format, so for example the Google Analytics 4 ecommerce reports work without any additional configuration.
Product purchase window is opened – Google Analytics: view_item_list, Meta Pixel: ViewContent
Product is added to the cart – Google Analytics: add_to_cart, Meta Pixel: AddToCart
Product is removed from the cart – Google Analytics: remove_from_cart, Meta Pixel: RemoveFromCart
Buyer goes to checkout – Google Analytics: begin_checkout, Meta Pixel: InitiateCheckout
Order is completed – Google Analytics: purchase, Meta Pixel: Purchase
Your own Snowplow tracking also receives shop opens and page views within the shop.
Cookie consent
The tracking script follows the choices made in your website's cookie banner and also passes the buyer's choice on to the shop. Data is forwarded to the services only with the buyer's permission.
Google Analytics and Snowplow – require consent to statistics cookies.
Meta Pixel – requires consent to marketing cookies.
Liveto usage data – Liveto uses shop usage data to develop its service. This data is collected anonymously and without cookies unless the buyer has accepted statistics cookies.
Actions taken before the buyer decides are held and forwarded once permission is given. The script automatically detects the following consent tools: Cookiebot, OneTrust, Complianz, CookieYes, Klaro, Osano, Usercentrics, iubenda and Didomi.
If your website uses a different consent tool, pass the buyer's choice to the script from your own code: You can find this script in the Liveto admin panel under Event Shops 2.0 > Guides > Setting Up Analytics.
Testing
Switch on the script's logging by adding a settings line before the script. You can find this script in the Liveto admin panel under Event Shops 2.0 > Guides > Setting Up Analytics.
Browser console – go through a purchase in the shop. Each action shows a line telling you whether the event was forwarded, is waiting for consent or was dropped.
Google Tag Manager preview mode – you can see the dataLayer events as GA4 receives them.
Meta Events Manager – the Test Events tab shows the pixel events with a delay of a few seconds. The Meta Pixel Helper browser extension shows the same directly on the page.
Remove the logging line once everything works, as logging prints the event contents to the browser console.
