Commercial Insurance Partners

Insurance is the single biggest fixed cost most new expedited carriers face — and the second-biggest reason new MCs fail (after cash flow). Our insurance partners specialize in cargo van, Sprinter, and box truck operations.

What coverage you need

Every for-hire interstate carrier needs:

1. Auto liability

Covers damage you cause to other people or property in a crash.

  • Minimum required: $750,000 (federal minimum for general freight)

  • What brokers actually require: $1,000,000 (almost always)

2. Cargo insurance

Covers the freight you're hauling if it's damaged, stolen, or destroyed.

  • Minimum: $100,000 (rare for brokers to accept this low)

  • Typical: $250,000 for cargo van/Sprinter expedited

  • High-value freight loads: $500K–$1M+

3. General liability

Covers things like injury to someone at a delivery site, damage during loading, etc.

  • Typical: $1,000,000 (many brokers require)

4. Physical damage

Covers damage to your own truck.

  • Typical: matches your truck's value

  • Required by: your lender (if financed) and most leasing companies

5. Workers' compensation

Required in most states if you have employees.

6. Optional coverages

  • Non-trucking liability (bobtail coverage when truck is off-dispatch)

  • Trailer interchange (if you ever pull a trailer that isn't yours)

  • Reefer breakdown (if you run refrigerated)

  • Hired/non-owned auto (for dispatchers using rented vehicles)

What our partner programs offer

  • Cargo van and box truck specialists — not generic commercial truck insurance brokers

  • New-authority friendly — newly approved MCs can get insured at competitive rates

  • Quote comparisons — partners shop multiple carriers to find the best fit

  • Fast COI delivery — most can email you a certificate within hours of binding

  • BMC-91 filing — partners handle the FMCSA insurance filing required to activate your MC authority

How it works

  1. Quote request: partner asks about your truck, MC status, lanes, and operation.

  2. Quote comparison: partner pulls quotes from multiple carriers.

  3. Bind coverage: you pick the option that fits, pay the down payment (typically 25%), coverage starts immediately.

  4. COI issuance: certificate of insurance emailed same-day.

  5. BMC-91 filed: if you're a new MC, the partner files with FMCSA.

What helps your application

  • Clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) for all drivers

  • 6+ months of MC authority (less is OK, just typically higher premiums)

  • Truck title in your company name (or LLC)

  • Tax returns or bank statements showing business activity

  • No major losses in the past 3 years

Typical premium ranges

These are general industry ballparks — your actual quote will depend on your driving record, truck value, lanes, and many other factors. We don't quote specific rates.

Equipment

Typical Annual Premium

Cargo van

$4,000–$8,000

Sprinter

$6,000–$10,000

16' box truck

$7,000–$12,000

24'–26' box truck

$9,000–$16,000

New-authority carriers typically pay 20–40% more in year one, then rates drop after a clean year of driving.

What we don't do

Load Work doesn't sell insurance directly. We connect you with our partner agents who shop quotes from multiple insurers. They handle the application, quote, and policy work.

How to get connected

Tell us in chat:

  • What truck(s) you need to insure

  • Are you a new MC or established?

  • Do you have current insurance you're shopping to replace?

  • Are you operating yet, or pre-authority?

We'll route you to a partner agent within 1 business day. They'll reach out to quote you.

Disclaimer

Insurance is a regulated product. Coverage details, premiums, and underwriting decisions are made by the insurance carrier, not by Load Work. Always read your policy carefully and confirm with your agent that the coverage matches what brokers in your lanes require.
