What is Social Engineering?
Social engineering is a tactic used by hackers to manipulate individuals into divulging confidential information or performing actions that compromise security. This can include techniques like pretexting, phishing, or impersonation, all aimed at exploiting human psychology rather than technical vulnerabilities to gain unauthorized access to systems, sensitive data, or networks.
How Lockwell Protects You from Social Engineering
Team Verify allows users within an organization to conduct real-time verification checks before divulging sensitive information or executing actions while you're discussing sensitive data or topics. Here's how it works:
In the example below, Marley (sender) is confirming Corey's (receiver) identity by initiating a verification check.
The Team Verify tab shows all active status users within your organization.
To initiate or Send a verification check, click Verify on the user.
Note that as a sender, you cannot send until a reason is added.
You will see a confirmation notification that the message has been send and an Issue will be created on your dashboard.
Receiving a Verification check from a Team Member
The example below highlights Corey's (receiver) perspective when Marley (sender) sends a verification check.
When a Team Member sends you a Verification check you will receive a Critical Issue and be prompted to "Verify now" to complete verification.
Click on the issue to open the details and click "Verify now".
The sender will then receive a notification that it's you. In this example, Corey (receiver) sent confirmation back to Marley (sender).
Warning: It's "Not me"
In the event that you or your teammate clicks "Not me", the sender will receive a verification failed notification letting you know that someone is impersonating your teammate. Disconnect and remove yourself from communication.
In this example, Corey (receiver) clicks "Not me" and Marley (sender) receives the failed verification.
