Quick actions

Learn how to use Quick action URLs in Loop to let customers perform key subscription actions instantly through emails or marketing automations

Updated yesterday

Quick actions are magic links you can send to your customers to take specific actions quickly without making them navigate through the customer portal searching for a particular action. These URLs are essential for increasing engagement and enhancing customer experience by providing them with immediate access to essential functions, such as updating payment methods, reactivating subscriptions, and more.

All these actions work seamlessly with our marketing integrations like Klaviyo, Omnisend, Recart, and Attentive and give you complete control & flexibility while sending customer notifications.

Why use quick action URLs?

Quick action URLs provide the following benefits:

  • Increased revenue: Simplify payment method updates and reactivation of cancelled subscriptions, driving customer retention and minimizing revenue loss.

  • Boost average order Value (AOV): Allow customers to easily add products to their upcoming orders, encouraging repeat purchases.

  • Improved retention: Reactivate cancelled subscriptions through a simple link, helping you re-engage customers with minimal effort.

Event actions

These are the quick actions that are auto-generated when a specific event happens. All you would need is the action key to leverage this action. The key will be used to refer to the action link in the notifications sent via Loop or 3rd party apps like Klaviyo.

How to use quick action URLs in Loop customer notifications?

Once you are done setting up quick action URLs, all the relevant quick actions will be made automatically available for respective events selected in the ‘Create new quick action’ page. You can locate all the customer email notifications sent by Loop on Settings > Notifications > Emails page on the right side information bar.

In the emails tab, open the concerned notification by clicking on its name. You can find the quick action URL variable in the right bar. The variable can be embedded as a URL within any button or text on the email.

Customer experience

Quick action URL is a savior for your customers as it reduces the number of steps to complete an action by multi-folds. Let’s say you are running a reactivation campaign where you want to offer a one-time 10% discount incentive for customers who will reactivate their cancelled subscriptions.

Attaching a teaser of what customers will experience while claiming their 10% discount by reactivating their subscription within a few seconds, in just 2 clicks.

Performance tracking

To manage and check the performance of your existing quick actions, brands want to track key metrics like clicks and completion rates over time. In your dashboard, you can view a report that lists each action, along with its corresponding Action name and Action key.

These metrics help you understand how effective each quick action is. Clicks show how many times the action link was clicked, while Completion rate indicates how many of those clicks resulted in the desired action being completed (such as a successful payment update or subscription reactivation). By monitoring these metrics, you can identify which actions are performing well and which may need adjustments, such as optimizing incentives or targeting specific customer segments.

Using loyalty points in the add product event action

The merchant can enable the preference to allow customers to pay with loyalty points when creating the add product event action.

Why use loyalty points?

  • Boosts add product actions using quick actions in marketing emails.

  • Lower prices visible to customers encourage higher chances of purchase, with loyalty points driving the decision.

Configuration

  1. Navigate to Loop admin > Retain > Quick actions > Create new action

  2. Select the action type "Add product", fill in the required fields, enable the "Allow customers to pay with loyalty points" option, and click Save.

Customer portal experience

As per the definition of the event action, when a certain condition is met and the required action is performed, the subscriber will see the discounted price of the product.

For example, when a subscriber logs into the customer portal after successfully creating a subscription, the event action triggers, displaying the add product drawer with the loyalty points option ticked and showing the final price after the points adjustment.

FAQs

Is there any specific time validity for any quick action URL?

A quick action URL will never expire after a specific time limit. However, each URL is valid only for single usage. Hence once a link has been used to perform a designated action, it can't be used again.

Can we send a quick action URL on any customer notification?

The quick action URL will be available only in the supported events configured during the URL creation process.

Can I use a quick action URL to launch the revival campaign for cancelled subscriptions?

The quick action URL can be sent immediately on a subscription cancellation event to help customers reactivate their cancelled subscriptions. Now since the URL is generated only on the occurrence of a supported event, you will not be able to use it in any mass email marketing campaign to revive all your cancelled subscriptions at once.

What are event actions?

Event Actions are used for future events flow.
Event actions are used when an event is scheduled to occur in the future. For example, we can create an automated flow in Klaviyo for a specific event. If a customer cancels their subscription, an automated email flow will be triggered. This email will include a pop-up on the customer portal offering the option to reactivate the subscription.
Event actions can also be utilized in Loop email notifications.

How do I send Magic Link as a button in an email to a customer?

To send a magic link as a button in the email to a customer, here’s what you can do on Loop and Klaviyo:

Go to Loop > Retain > Quick Actions and create an “Upgrade Profile” quick action. Once created, Loop will generate an action key and include it in the event payload that’s sent to Klaviyo.

In Klaviyo, open the email or flow where you want to include this upgrade option, and add the quick-action URL variable (for example, {{ event.quickAction_upgradeProfile }}) to a button or link in your template.
The custom property will appear in Klaviyo as part of the profile or event data, which you can use to personalise emails, create segments, or trigger flows.
When a customer clicks the button, they’ll be redirected to their Loop Customer Portal, where they can upgrade their product directly. Please test the flow with a real or test subscriber to ensure everything works smoothly.
