After creating your selling plans, the next step is mapping products to them. This ensures that the subscription logic, including delivery frequency, billing cycles, and discounts, is applied to the correct products.
For instance, if a selling plan includes four delivery frequency options, all mapped products will display those options to customers at checkout. This mapping is essential for enabling subscription functionality on your storefront.
This article covers how to map individual products and Shopify collections to a selling plan, and how to manage collection syncing from the collections page in Loop admin.
Mapping products to a selling plan
Mapping products to a selling plan links your Shopify products to the subscription logic defined in that plan, including delivery frequency, billing cycles, and discounts.
You can add or edit products in two ways: if the selling plan is newly created and no products are mapped yet, click Add products. To add more products to an existing selling plan, click Edit
To map a product to a selling plan:
Open the desired selling plan, navigate to the Products section, then click Add products.
Select the desired product, then click Select.
The products are now mapped to the selling plan.
Mapping collection to a selling plan
With collection mapping, you can link Shopify collections directly to selling plans, eliminating the need to map products individually.
To map a collection to a selling plan:
Open the desired selling plan, navigate to Products > Collections tab, then click Add collections.
Select the desired collection, then click Select.
The collection is now mapped to the selling plan.
Key features
Feature | Description |
Native Shopify collection support | This removes the need to create separate collections within Loop, making setup more efficient compared to other subscription apps. |
Smart collection support | As products are added or removed from a collection, their mapping in Loop is automatically updated, keeping product mapping accurate and up to date. For cases where the automatic update does not reflect, use the Sync products button on the collections page. |
Auto-syncing | Collections added, updated, or deleted in Shopify are automatically reflected in Loop. |
Popular use-cases
Rotating menus: Create a Shopify collection for each menu. Map or unmap the collection as needed, rather than updating individual products each time.
Large product catalogs: Map collections directly to avoid manually managing a high volume of individual products.
Different product categories: If you offer separate subscription plans for different product categories, collection mapping makes it faster to organize and update those plans.
Managing collections in Loop admin
The collections page in Loop admin gives you a central view of all your Shopify collections and lets you sync product mapping across various touchpoints like upsells, swaps, and selling plans.
This is particularly useful for Smart collections, where Shopify updates products based on defined rules but those changes may not always reflect in Loop automatically.
Navigate to Loop admin > Products > Collections to access this page.
The page lists all collections created in your Shopify admin with the following details:
Column | Description |
Collection name | The name of the collection as it appears in Shopify. |
Image | The collection's thumbnail image. |
Shopify ID | The unique identifier for the collection in Shopify. |
Products | The number of products currently mapped to the collection. |
From this page, you can:
Click the collection name to view the full list of products mapped to it. Use the search bar within this view to find a specific product.
Click Sync products next to a collection to queue a bulk sync and update all product mapping for that collection across Loop.
Use the search bar on the collections page to find a specific collection by name.
Click View in Shopify to open that collection's detail page in your Shopify admin.
FAQs
Should I create one selling plan and add multiple products to it, or create a separate plan for each product?
Should I create one selling plan and add multiple products to it, or create a separate plan for each product?
You can add multiple products to the same selling plan if they share the same frequency, discount, and settings. However, if different products need unique frequencies or discounts, you'll need to create separate selling plans. It depends on how you want each product's subscription to behave.

What do I check before deleting a selling plan mapped to active subscription items?
Loop will show a warning if you attempt to delete a selling plan that is mapped to active subscription items. Remap those products to another selling plan before deleting, as removing an active selling plan can cause issues with swaps, shipping calculations, and analytics.
