Loopster basics: workbooks, tables, columns and rows

Find your way around Home, a table, its toolbar and the Add column menu.

Written by Umer Ishaq

This article shows you how a Loopster table is laid out, so you know where things are before you add your first column.

Where do I start from Home?

Home has cards for getting data in:

  • Find leads (Find people, Find companies, Google Search and more)

  • Import data (Import CSV / XLSX, HubSpot Import, Webhook)

  • Blank Table (start with an empty table)

  • HeyReach Import

  • More

Click Blank Table and Loopster creates and opens a new table called "Untitled Table" at once. No dialog appears.

What are workbooks, tables, rows and columns?

A workbook holds tables. The table tabs sit at the bottom of the screen, next to a + Add tab. The header shows where you are as Home, then the workbook, then the table.

In a table, each row is one record. Each column holds one detail about it. In a table of companies, a row is one company, and the columns might be the name, the domain and the country.

To rename a table, click its title in the header, type a new name and press Enter. The workbook name and the table tab take the same name.

What is in the toolbar?

The toolbar above the grid has:

  • Auto-run, on the left

  • the view (the default is Main)

  • how many columns and rows are showing, such as 3/5 columns and 5/5 rows

  • filter, sort and search

The column count can include hidden system columns such as Created At and Updated At.

What does Auto-run do?

When Auto-run is off, new rows and values do not run on their own. You start runs from a column or a row. Hover Auto-run to read this in the app.

The Auto-run Off button in the table toolbar, outlined in red, with its tooltip: New rows and values will not run on their own — trigger them from a column or row. Cells already queued still run.

When it is on, a popover explains that new values in the first column trigger the row workflow.

Check the Auto-run switch before you run a column. A new table can start with Auto-run on or off.

How do I add a column?

  1. Click Add column.

  2. At the top of the menu, pick Add enrichment, Use AI, Functions, Waterfall, Formula or Merge columns.

  3. Or pick a column type from the list below: Text, Number, Date, URL, Image URL, Rich text, File, Checkbox, Single select or Multi-select.

The Add column menu open above a table with the columns Company Name, Company Domain and Country. The first item, Add enrichment, is outlined in red. Below it are Use AI, Functions, Waterfall, Formula and Merge columns, then the column types Text, Number, Date, URL, Image URL, Rich text, File and Checkbox.

Add enrichment opens a panel with a search box ("Search data points, tools, providers…") and the tabs For you, Import, Enrich, Tools, Functions and Export. Under For you, Loopster suggests columns for your table and shows which are free. Company profile is shown as Free with Loopster Data.

The Add column panel open on the right of a table. It has a search box, the tabs For you, Import, Enrich, Tools, Functions and Export, and a Suggested list. Under Free with Loopster Data, the Company profile card, marked Free, is outlined in red.

Good to know

  • Opening the Add column menu does not change your table.

  • To add rows to a blank table, use + Add [10] more rows at the bottom. The number is editable.

  • Many enrichments show a cost label in the panel, such as Free or a price per row.

  • Click a column header to open its menu, with options such as Rename column, Hide and Delete column.
