Find people's contact details with waterfalls

Add a Work email waterfall to a people table, test it on one row, and see what it cost.

Written by Umer Ishaq

A waterfall finds a contact detail by trying providers one after another until one gives an answer. This article shows you how to add a Work email waterfall to a table of people and test it on one row.

Switch Auto-run off first

A table of people you import from the People page starts with Auto-run On. Importing people from Loopster's own database is free, but enrichments you add afterwards are priced as usual. Before you add paid columns, switch Auto-run off. It then says "New rows and values will not run on their own."

Add a Work email waterfall

  1. Click Add column, then Waterfall.

  2. You will see five options: Work email, Personal email, Mobile phone, LinkedIn profile and Custom.

  3. Pick Work email. Its settings open on the right. A waterfall runs providers one after another until one finds an answer it keeps.

  4. Check the inputs. Columns such as First Name, Last Name, Full Name and LinkedIn URL may already be mapped.

  5. Domain is required. If it is empty, the footer says "Select a column for Domain before running." Click the field, press /, and pick a column from the list. In a table imported from the People page, you can pick Person record, then company_domain.

The Waterfall submenu of the Add column menu with five options: Work email, Personal email, Mobile phone, LinkedIn profile and Custom. Work email is outlined in red.

Check the providers and the cost

Below the inputs, the providers are listed in order.

  • The first, Loopster Find Work Email, is labelled Free.

  • The others show their price per run.

  • The waterfall stops at the first work email the verifier accepts.

  • Each email is then verified, for example by Findymail Verify Email. The panel shows its price per check.

The Work email waterfall settings panel. Under Providers, the note stops at the first work email the verifier accepts is outlined in red. The first provider, Loopster Find Work Email, is marked Free.

Cost per row shows an estimate. Click the info icon next to it for details. It says a provider that finds nothing costs nothing, and that each verification check is billed, including one that rejects an address.

Test it on one row

  1. Click the arrow next to the Add column and run button, then choose Add column without running. The column is added empty.

  2. Click a row's Run this row play button.

  3. When it finishes, the cell shows an email with a green check. The check's label reads "Verified by Findymail · valid".

  4. Select the cell and press Enter to open the details. They show Found by, Verification and Amount Spent.

Build your own waterfall

  1. Click Add column, then Waterfall, then Custom.

  2. Set the Data type.

  3. Click Add provider. A searchable list of actions opens. Each action shows a price or a key option.

  4. Add providers in the order you want. Providers run in order, and each step asks for its own inputs.

Good to know

  • When you press /, pick a column from the list. If you close the list without picking, a / stays in the field.
