Your column is in the table, but its cells are empty or did not change. This article covers the causes we know about and what to do for each.
Quick answer
Check these three things in order:
Auto-run, at the top left of the toolbar. When it is Off, rows do not run on their own.
Whether you added the column without running it. Its cells stay empty until you run them.
The warning in the column panel. If an input has no column mapped, the panel tells you.
Is Auto-run off?
What you see
You add rows or change values, and nothing runs.
Why it happens
When Auto-run is Off, the app says: "New rows and values will not run on their own — trigger them from a column or row. Cells already queued still run." Each column also has an Auto-run switch under Run Settings. While the table's Auto-run is off, it says: "Table Auto-run is off. This column will only run manually until table Auto-run is enabled."
A new table can start with Auto-run on or off, so check it on every table.
What to do
Click Auto-run and read its state. Then either run the column yourself, or switch Auto-run on. When it is on, new values in the first column trigger the row workflow. Check a paid column's cost before you switch it on. See Run columns safely: Auto-run, test one row, then run the rest.
I turned Auto-run on for one column but new rows still don't run
Each column has its own Auto-run switch under Run Settings. While the table's Auto-run is off, the column only runs manually. Check Auto-run at the top left of the toolbar and switch it on there. Check a paid column's cost before you switch it on.
Did a finished cell stay the same after I changed its input?
What you see
A cell already has a result. You change one of its inputs, and the result stays.
Why it happens
With Auto-run on, Keep existing results is ticked: "Only errored, empty and new cells run. A completed answer is left alone even when one of its inputs changes."
What to do
Double-click the cell and click Re-run this cell. Or click the play button on the column header and choose Overwrite all N rows in the Run column dialog. Read the line under each option first.
Did I add the column without running it?
What you see
The column is there, its cells are empty, and every row has a play button.
Why it happens
The arrow next to the main button offers Add column without running. It adds the column and leaves the cells empty.
What to do
Click a row's play button to test one row. To run the rest, click the play button on the column header. In the Run column dialog, choose Run all N empty rows. For a free column, the dialog says Spends nothing from your wallet.
Is an input not mapped?
What you see
The panel footer warns, for example: "Select a column for Company Website or LinkedIn URL before running." Other panels say, for example: "Select a column for Domain before running."
Why it happens
A required input (marked with *) has no column. The input can be empty even when the suggestion names a column, so check it.
What to do
Click the input, press /, and pick a column from the list. Do not close the list with Esc: a / or @ is then left in the field as plain text. See Map an enrichment's inputs.
Did a Lookup in Table column stay empty after "Add column and run"?
What you see
You click Add column and run 5 rows on Lookup in Table. The column appears, but all its cells are empty.
Why it happens
The column was added, but it was not run. This is a known problem with that button, not the normal way a lookup works.
What to do
Use the safe path. Choose Add column without running. Then click the column's play button and choose Run all N empty rows, for example Run all 5 empty rows. See Send rows to another table, or look up data from one.
Good to know
Check Auto-run on every table. Tables can start with it on or off.
With Auto-run on, new values in the first column trigger the row workflow. Check a paid column's cost first.
The row play button runs one row. The column header's play button opens the Run column dialog.
Cells that are already queued still run when Auto-run is off.
