Here's some key information about Trail Races at Love Trails Festival powered by Garmin!

Every adult festival ticket includes one trail race of a 5km, 10km, 16km or 27km distance, or you can pay extra entrance fee for the Ultra-Trail Gower Peninsula® 52km, or the Multi-day Ultra Marathon 77km. which must be pre-booked in advance, before the deadline.

Trail races are fully marked, chip-timed, and supported routes with aid stations (note: the 5km does not have an aid station) and a lovingly made medal provided at the end. You'll start & finish in the main festival site, with high energy music and the crowds to match. The best finish line to a race, ever!

If you are a Premium ticket holder, you can participate in an unlimited number of races, including the ultra distances at no extra cost.

How do I book a trail race?

Bookings for the free trail races are open now and can be booked through your account. Bookings for the longer distances (Ultra-Trail Gower Peninsula® and Multi-Day Trail Race) are open for booking here.

If you're a guest (and your friend purchased your festival ticket) they can book for you, or invite you to their booking for you to choose yourself. You can find out how to do that here.

Is there a kit list?

This is the mandatory kit list which should be used as a guide if you are taking part in a Trail Race at the festival. It is the sole responsibility of the participant to wear or carry the items with them at all times from start to finish. Whilst we will not be doing kit checks at race registration, the event team reserves the right to ask participants to withdraw from the event if they are not carrying the correct kit.

Can I change my trail race to a different one?

The deadline for changing trail races will be in Spring 2025 (official date tbd), and you'll be sent email reminders when to do so. We set a deadline so that we know how many medals to make, how many ribbons to order, and make final arrangements for the correct number of entries. This helps us plan better, and leaves us with less waste!

If you're injured and can no longer run your distance, there's a tonne of other incredible things on the programme to get stuck in to. Please don't email us about changing your trail races as we won't be able to reply or amend it for you. Thank you for your understanding.

What experience do I need to take part in a trail race?

Anyone can take part in a trail race and we encourage you to do so at your own pace. You can choose to race, run, jog, or hike the trail races. All the trail races include a mixture of rough bridleways and footpaths, so you should be comfortable moving across this type of terrain.

As with all running challenges of this nature, you’ll need to be sure you have the appropriate level of fitness to complete the distance you have chosen.

Are there aid stations?

There will be several aid stations on the 10km, 16km, 27km, Ultra-Marathon & Multi-Day routes offering a variety of hydration and food.

For details on aid stations, including locations & distances, check out the Trail Race pages here.

Are there cut off times?

We want to allow people to be able to run or hike the trail races at their own pace, however, we will be adding in cut off times for aid stations in the longer trail races so we can ensure our volunteers, marshals and race team are operating safely and efficiently.

The cut off times will be lenient, and allow for people to run/hike/walk the routes, but having them in place allows us to keep our volunteers, marshals, and race team safe. We will have a member of crew walking behind the slowest participant.

Please note, that if you leave or deviate off the route (i.e to go to the beach or pub!) then you won’t be accounted for along the route and we will start dismantling route marking signage and closing any aid stations.

The cut off times will be lenient, and allow for people to run/hike/walk the routes, but having them in place allows us to keep our volunteers, marshals, and race team safe.

Can I enter on the day?

We cannot allow any entries on the day for trail races.

As with all trail races, we set a deadline so that we know how many medals to make (they're made locally in the Gower!), how many ribbons to order, and make final arrangements for the correct number of entries. This helps us plan better, and leaves us with less waste!

There are a tonne of other incredible things on the programme to get stuck in to, including loads of Running Experiences which don't require pre-booking, you can just show up! https://www.lovetrailsfestival.co.uk/explore-running

How to check your trail race selection

If you booked one of the free trail races included in your festival ticket (5km, 10km or 27km) you can access your bookings at any time to check which trail race you booked.

Your confirmed trail race distance can be viewed under 'Guest Selections'.
