If you need to terminate your participation in the scheme after at least 3 months from the delivery of the car due to you being on Long Term Sickness Absence or as a result of your accidental death (that is a direct consequence of a single, unexpected, unforeseen and unintentional incident and not as a result of: (i) suicide or self inflicted act; (ii) you having taken alcohol or drugs, unless taken because of medical advice or under doctor supervision (for any condition other than drug or alcohol addiction); (iii) reckless and deliberate exposure to known danger (except in an attempt to save human life); (iv) participation in or acting as an accessory to a crime or attempted crime; (v) you being in control of a vehicle and acting in a dangerous or careless manner or exceeding the legal speed limit; or (vi) any illness, disease or sickness (other than Long Term Sickness Absence)(“Accidental Death”), then you will only be liable to pay your employer a sum equivalent to one month’s gross rent as an administration charge.
“Long Term Sickness Absence” means an event whereby the employee has been absent from their employment with the employer for longer than the employer supports absence on full pay due to sickness or injury, lasting at least four consecutive weeks, where the absence is not caused by or aggravated by a Pre-Existing Condition) and it commences no sooner than 1 (one) month after the day you receive your car.
“Pre-Existing Condition” means any injury, sickness, disease or related condition and/or associated symptoms, where, in the 24 months before the taking possession of the vehicle: (i) you received advice, treatment, medication or a consultation; (ii) or you were made aware of, or experienced symptoms of, or should reasonably have known about the condition; or (iii) you have seen or arranged to see a doctor, whether a diagnosis was made or not. Once you have been symptom free and have not received any medical advice or treatment for a period of 24 consecutive months after taking possession of the vehicle, then the condition will no longer be classed as pre-existing.
Please note that your employer has the right to deduct sums equivalent to the administration charges from your salary in accordance with this Handbook.
