Clearing your cache & cookies can help your web browser run more smoothly and can help fix certain problems, such as a website loading slowly, formatting issues on a web page, or intermittent errors. Occasionally, clearing your browser's cache may help to keep your Loxo running at its optimal performance.

Common symptoms of browser-data issues include display errors or web pages not loading correctly, random or unexplained errors, disrupted workflows, or unresponsive features. Your browser picks up cache and cookies from most of the websites you visit, and sometimes having outdated data stored on the browser can impact the overall performance of the system, even across different web pages. When troubleshooting issues online, clearing cache can be a great first step, as it can quickly resolve a lot of common issues.

Clearing data can be a daunting and intimidating step, so we've put together step-by-step instructions to clear the kind of data that should be removed, while keeping other important data that should not, like your saved sign-in info or site settings.

Clear Your Cache & Cookies in Chrome

You can take the following steps to clean up your browser's cache & cookies:

  1. Click the three dots in the top right corner of your Chrome Browser

  2. Select "Delete Browsing Data..." (Heads up, this will open a new tab!)

  3. Click on the "Advanced" option on the right

  4. Set the Time Range to "All Time"

  5. Make sure "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files" are selected (Browsing and Download history may also be helpful to clear, especially if you are experiencing issues with slowness or unexplained errors)

  6. Make sure "Passwords and other sign-in data" is UNCHECKED

  7. Clearing Site Settings is also not recommended

  8. Click "Delete Data"

Once the data has been cleared, you can restart your browser window and log back into Loxo. Note that after clearing all browsing history, you will have to sign back in to other sites as well. However, this step can be crucial to improving your experience on your browser - not just in Loxo, but across other sites as well.

Alternatively, to clear site-specific data for Loxo, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open Loxo in your browser.

  2. In the web address bar (where you see the URL or page link), locate and click on the "View site information" button on the left.

  3. Select "Cookies and site data."

  4. Choose "Manage on-device site data."

  5. Find entries for Loxo. You may see two or more links here (app.loxo.co, loxo.co, a URL with your account's slug, etc.)

  6. Use the trash can icon to delete data associated with these entries.

Once you have followed these steps, open Loxo in a new window and try your previous workflow again. If clearing your browsing data hasn't resolved the issue, feel free to reach out to Loxo Support for additional assistance!

Computer Best Practices

Many things can cause web applications to slow down - having too many tabs open, leaving your computer open and running for days on end, never clearing your cache, etc. Here are some best practices to follow to make sure your computer is running at its optimal performance.

  1. Shut down your computer every 2-3 days

  2. Delete/uninstall programs you don't use

  3. Delete large files you no longer need (music, movies, etc.)

  4. Clean up hard disk space

  5. Change the power plan of your desktop computer to High Performance

  6. Add more RAM to your computer

  7. Update your computer's software as needed

  8. Delete browser extensions or plugins you don’t use

  9. Remove unused dashboard widgets or gadgets

  10. Stop programs from automatically launching when your computer turns on

Check Your Computer's Memory Usage

If your computer is running slowly, you can check your computer's memory usage to find any programs that you don't need to have open.

Mac

  1. Applications folder.

  2. Utilities folder.

  3. Activity Monitor.

  4. Select the Memory tab, and make sure it's green. If it's yellow or red, look at which applications are using the most memory and quit them.

PC

  1. Press Windows Key + R.

  2. Type resmon into the search box.

  3. Select the Memory tab, and make sure it's below 50%. If it's above 50%, look at which applications are using the most memory and quit them.
