Add localhost/staging domains

You don't need to use your main license on your staging site. You can add a localhost domain for free.

With LPagery, licenses are designed to cover staging, development, and localhost environments by default. This means you don’t need to purchase additional licenses for these environments as long as their domain names fit the recognized patterns. If they don't fit the pattern we can still enable them for you.

Default Support for Localhost/Staging Environments

By default, LPagery licenses allow activation on localhost and staging environments without counting against the maximum number of allowed sites. This feature ensures smooth development workflows for users working on staging or dev setups.

Supported TLDs

LPagery automatically recognizes the following TLDs as staging or dev environments:

  • .dev

  • .test

  • .local

  • .staging

  • .example

  • .invalid

Supported Subdomains

Similarly, subdomains with the following prefixes are treated as dev or staging environments:

  • local.*

  • dev.*

  • test.*

  • stage.*

  • staging.*

  • stagingN.* (e.g., staging1.example.com, used by hosting services like SiteGround)

Custom Hosting Platforms

LPagery also supports domains commonly used by popular hosting services, such as:

  • *.wpengine.com (WP Engine)

  • *.pantheonsite.io (Pantheon)

  • *.kinsta.com (Kinsta)

  • *.cloudwaysapps.com (Cloudways)

  • *.ngrok.io (Tunneling)

  • *.wpmudev.host (WPMU DEV)

For a full list of supported domains, see the complete reference above.

Adding Custom Localhost/Staging URLs

If your development or staging environment does not match the recognized patterns listed above, we can add custom URLs for you.

Steps to Add Custom Localhost/Staging URLs:

  1. Contact Support:
Send an email to support@lpagery.io with the following details:

    • The name of the custom staging domain.

    • Any additional information about the environment (if necessary).

  2. Enable the Domain:
Our team will review your request and enable the custom staging or localhost URL on your account.

Using a License on Unrecognized Domains

If you’re working on a dev or staging site with a domain that doesn’t meet the default criteria and don’t wish to add it as a custom pattern:

  1. Deactivate the License:
Deactivate the license from the current domain via the Account page in your WP Admin dashboard.

  2. Reactivate the License:
Use the license on your desired staging or dev site.
