Polls in Circles & Group Chats

What are polls?

Polls are a new way to ask questions and gather quick input from other members - and it can be done right inside a Circle or Group chat. They replace the old workaround of posting a message and asking people to react with an emoji to "vote" - now you get a real voting experience with results, percentages, and (when you choose) a breakdown of who voted for what.

Who can create a poll?

Any member can create a poll in our Discussion Feed, in a Circle or Group chat they're part of, on web or in the mobile app.

How do I create a poll in a Circle or Group Chat?

  1. In the message composer, tap the + icon and select Poll.

  2. Write your question.

  3. Add your answer options (up to 10) — you can drag them to reorder before sending.

  4. Choose your settings:

    • Multiple answers: let voters pick more than one option.

    • Anonymous voting: hide voter identities from other members (see below for what this does and doesn't cover).

  5. Tap Send to post the poll to the chat.

Note: once a poll is sent, the anonymous setting is locked in and can't be changed.

How does voting work?

Tap any option to cast your vote. As soon as you vote, you'll see the results — a progress bar and percentage for each option — with your choice marked by a checkmark. You can't see results before you vote.

Can I select more than one option?

Only if the poll's creator turned on "multiple answers" when they built it. Otherwise it's one vote per member.

Can I change my vote?

Not currently — once you tap an option, your vote is locked in.

When do polls close?

All polls automatically close to voting 7 days after they're sent. This is fixed and can't be changed by the person who created the poll. Once closed, anyone who hasn't voted will see a "Poll closed" message instead of selectable options. If you already voted, your results view stays the same.

Can I still see results after a poll closes?

Yes. Results (and "View votes," if the poll isn't anonymous) remain available after a poll closes — closed polls work the same as open ones for viewing results.

Can I see who voted for what?

If the poll is not anonymous, yes. After you vote, tap View votes on the poll to open a breakdown showing each option, its vote count, and the members who chose it, with timestamps. From there you can tap a voter's name to view their profile, message them directly, or reply to the poll in the chat.

What's different about an anonymous poll?

Anonymous polls look and work the same while you're voting — the difference is in what other members can see afterward. On an anonymous poll, the View votes option is hidden entirely for everyone, including the person who created the poll. Only the overall vote counts and percentage bars are visible on the poll message — no one can see which member chose which option.

Can I edit or delete a poll after I post it?

You can delete a poll you created at any time. You can edit it only if no one has voted yet — once the first vote comes in, editing is locked to keep the results accurate.

Can I react to a poll like a regular message?

Yes — polls support emoji reactions just like any other message in the chat.

Where can I find polls?

Polls appear directly in the Discussion Feed, Circle or Group chat feed where they were posted, alongside regular messages — there's no separate polls tab.
