Set up and use two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Braintrust account. Once enabled, you’ll enter a verification code from an authenticator app each time you log in.
If you can’t access your authenticator app, you can request a one-time verification code by email instead.
Enable two-factor authentication
Log in to Braintrust.
Open your profile
Go to Account Settings and tap “Enable two-factor authentication” under Security.
Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your preferred authenticator app.
Enter the verification code generated by your authenticator app to finish setting up 2FA.
Click Verify and Enable
After set up is complete, you’ll be shown a set of one-time recovery codes. Store them somewhere safe — each one works only once, and they are the only way back in if you lose access to your authenticator app.
You can turn 2FA off anytime from Settings → Security in the Braintrust. And regenerate your recovery codes when turning 2FA back on.
On the mobile app, you’ll see a manual setup key by default. You can copy this key into your authenticator app or select Show QR code if you’d prefer to scan the code using another device.
Log in using your authenticator app
After entering your email address and password, you’ll be prompted for a six-digit verification code.
Open your authenticator app, locate your Braintrust account, and enter the code shown to complete your login.
Use an email code instead
If you can’t access your authenticator app:
Select Email me a code instead on the verification screen.
We’ll send a six-digit code to the verified email address associated with your account. The verification screen will display a masked version of the email address.
Check your inbox and enter the code to complete your login.
Email verification is a fallback for members who have already enabled 2FA with an authenticator app. It is not a separate way to enroll in 2FA, and no additional setup is required.
Resend an email code
You can request another code after the resend countdown ends. Each new request invalidates any earlier unused code, so be sure to enter the most recent code you received.
Email codes expire after 10 minutes. If you reach the request limit, the verification screen will show when you can try again.
If you don’t receive the email
Confirm that you’re checking the email address associated with your Braintrust account.
Check your spam or junk folder.
Wait for the resend countdown to end, then request a new code.
Enter only the most recently received code.
If the email still doesn’t arrive, use one of your unused recovery codes, saved at set up.
If you have any additional questions, contact Member Support for help.
Keep your account secure
Never share an authenticator or email verification code with anyone. The Suite will never ask you to provide a 2FA code by email, phone, or chat.
Disabling two-factor authentication
Log in to Braintrust.
Open your profile
Go to Account Settings and tap “Disable two-factor authentication” under Security and follow the steps.
