What is Continuing Professional Education (CPE)?

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) is required for Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) to maintain their professional designation. It ensures CPAs stay current with changes in regulation, standards, and industry practices to uphold competence and ethical standards in the profession.

Does LumiQ offer NASBA-approved CPE?

Yes. LumiQ is a registered sponsor of Continuing Professional Education with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA). Our episodes are designed to meet the standards set by NASBA, including defined learning objectives, qualified instructors, and a certificate of completion.

Can I earn CPE through self-study on LumiQ?

Yes. LumiQ offers self-study programs, referred to as episodes, that qualify for CPE credit under NASBA guidelines. To earn credit, users must complete the full episode and successfully pass a qualified assessment to demonstrate learning outcomes.

Are LumiQ CPE credits accepted in every state?

LumiQ CPE credits are accepted in most U.S. states and jurisdictions that recognize NASBA-approved providers. However, requirements can vary by state. LumiQ always recommends that professionals verify acceptance with their state board, jurisdiction, or credentialing organization to ensure compliance with continuing education requirements.

Do other professional designations accept LumiQ CPE credits?

Many professional designations—including Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)—often recognize CPE from NASBA-approved providers. However, acceptance ultimately depends on each credentialing body’s policies. LumiQ always recommends contacting the relevant organization to confirm eligibility.

Can IRS tax preparers earn CPE credits through LumiQ?

Not at this time. LumiQ does not currently provide CPE credits for IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) holders. The IRS requires continuing education providers to register and fulfill specific reporting and data collection requirements. LumiQ has not pursued sponsorship with the IRS.

Does LumiQ report CPE credits to state boards or the IRS?

LumiQ does not report CPE credits directly to state boards or the IRS. It is the responsibility of the CPA to track, document, and report CPE hours as required. At this time, LumiQ is not a registered IRS Continuing Education Provider and cannot offer credit to PTIN holders.

Should I confirm acceptance of LumiQ content with my professional body?

Yes. While LumiQ is a NASBA-approved CPE sponsor and our content is widely accepted for CPE credit, requirements can vary depending on your professional designation and state or regulatory body. If you hold credentials such as CPA, CIA, CISA, or CFE, we recommend consulting your governing organization (e.g., state board of accountancy, IIA, ISACA, ACFE) to confirm that LumiQ coursework meets your continuing education requirements.
