Sentiment by Topics and Sub-topics

Updated over a week ago

To make sense of large volumes of reviews, Lumos organizes player sentiment into 9 core topics that represent the major aspects of a game.

The 9 sentiment topics

  • Core Gameplay Experience

  • Narrative & Worldbuilding

  • Presentation

  • Technical

  • Multiplayer & Community

  • Economy & Value

  • Live-Ops & Studio

  • Meta / External Factors

  • Accessibility

Reading topic cards

Each topic card shows:

  • A sentiment score out of 100

  • Whether sentiment is positive, mixed, or negative

  • Frequently mentioned keywords related to that topic

Topics are sorted from highest to lowest sentiment, helping you quickly identify strengths and weaknesses.

Keywords and color indicators

Keywords are extracted directly from player reviews and color-coded:

  • Green – mostly positive sentiment

  • Orange – mixed sentiment

  • Red – mostly negative sentiment

Topics vs sub-topics

Each main topic is further broken down into sub-topics (for example, Balance, Performance, or Sound Design), allowing more precise analysis.

Deep-diving into a topic

Clicking on any topic opens a detailed view where you can investigate why sentiment looks the way it does.

What the topic view shows

  • Overall sentiment score and direction

  • Total number of reviews mentioning the topic

  • Key keywords driving sentiment

  • A summary insight highlighting major themes

Sub-topic analysis

Within a topic, you can:

  • Switch between sub-topics

  • View individual sentiment scores for each sub-topic

  • See keywords commonly associated with each sub-topic
