đ Canvas: Importing a QTI File
You can bring your QTI zip file into Canvas as either a Classic Quiz or a New Quiz.
Option 1: Classic Quiz
Go to your course home page
From the left menu, click Home.
At the top right, click Import Existing Content.
Choose QTI File
In the Content Type dropdown, select QTI .zip file.
Upload your file
Click Browse, find your QTI zip file, and attach it.
Leave the other boxes (Default Question Bank, Import as New Quizzes, Overwrite IDs) unchecked.
Click Import
Youâll see a progress bar.
When finished, a new question bank will appear in your course.
â Done! Youâve imported your QTI as a Classic Quiz.
Option 2: New Quiz
Open the Quizzes page
On the left course menu, click Quizzes.
Create a new quiz
Click the +Quiz button (top right).
Select New Quizzes, then click Submit.
Set up your quiz
Fill in quiz details (title, instructions, etc.) as you like.
Click Build.
Import your QTI file
In the Build page, click the ⎠options menu â Import Content.
Drag and drop your QTI zip file, or click Browse to upload.
Finish import
A status bar will show progress.
Once complete, your questions are ready in the New Quiz.
đ Schoology: Importing a QTI File
In Schoology, QTI imports happen inside Resources (not directly in courses).
Go to Resources
On the top menu, click Resources.
Click Import
In the Resources page, open the dropdown menu and choose Import.
Choose the correct format
If your file is from LyfeCourse, choose QTI v2.1 or v2.2 (ZIP).
If unsure, check with your provider.
Pick where to save it
You can import into a new collection or an existing collection.
This just controls your organizationâit doesnât affect the import.
Upload your file
Attach the QTI zip file and click Import.
Wait for the import
You may get an email from Schoology when itâs ready.
Once complete, youâll see the new assessment in your collection.
â Done! Open it to confirm your questions came through correctly.
đ Brightspace: Importing a QTI File
In Brightspace, imports must happen at the course level.
Go to your course page
Click the gear icon
Top right corner â choose Import/Export/Copy Components.
Select Import Components
Choose Import Components from a file.
Click Start.
Upload your file
Drag and drop the QTI zip file into the box.
Click Import All Components.
Wait for processing
The system may take a minute.
When complete, click View Content to return to the course.
Check your Question Library
At the top, click Quizzes â Question Library.
Confirm your imported questions are there.
â Done! Your QTI file is now in Brightspace.
â ď¸ Note: Thereâs another âImportâ button inside the Question Library. Donât use thatâit wonât work with QTI files.
