Yes. Eight rules can check the shipping address, the billing address, or both: Require house numbers, Require apartment/suite numbers, Block P.O. boxes, Validate postal code format, Block postal codes, Limit characters per field, Block special characters, and Custom rule (REGEX).
Open Address Ninja from Apps in your Shopify admin and click the rule name.
Under Address, choose Shipping address, Billing address, or Shipping and billing addresses.
Click Save and turn on. If the rule is already on, click Save in the bar at the top.
Where to find the Address choice
Require house numbers, Require apartment/suite numbers, Block P.O. boxes, and Validate postal code format: in the Countries card, under the country options.
Block postal codes: at the end of the Postal codes to block card.
Limit characters per field, Block special characters, and Custom rule (REGEX): on each limit, character list, or pattern, under its Countries choice. One list can block characters on billing addresses while another list checks shipping addresses.
The line under the rule name shows which addresses the rule checks, for example: Requires a house number for billing addresses in Germany. With Shipping address, it reads: Requires a house number for addresses in Germany.
At checkout
Each address uses the rule settings for its own country. With a German shipping address and a French billing address, the Germany settings apply to the shipping address and the France settings apply to the billing address. The billing address gets the same error message as the shipping address.
The billing check runs only when checkout has a billing address. When a customer checks Use shipping address as billing address, the shipping address is also the billing address. A rule set to Billing address still checks it, but the error shows only in the checkout banner because the billing form is hidden. Choose Shipping and billing addresses if you also want the address field highlighted.
Shipping only rules
Block DHL pickup points, Block malformatted DHL, and meineinkauf.ch format check the shipping address only. They have no Address choice.
Rules you set up before this update keep checking the shipping address until you change the Address choice and save. Each rule stays on the same plan: Limit characters per field and Custom rule (REGEX) are on the Pro plan, the other six are on all plans.
