Keeping the Timeless desktop app up to date means you always get the latest recording improvements, bug fixes, and new features. The good news: you don't have to go looking for updates. Whenever a new version is available, Timeless automatically shows you a pop-up prompting you to update.
Here's everything you need to know about staying on the latest version.
How updates work
While the Timeless desktop app is open, it automatically checks for new versions. As soon as an update is available, a pop-up appears prompting you to update.
Just click Update and the app will restart on the latest version. That's it.
A few things worth knowing:
The pop-up appears on its own whenever a new version is ready, so you'll always know when it's time to update.
If you're in the middle of recording a meeting, Timeless waits until you're done before prompting you, so it never interrupts a recording.
Keep the app open so it can check for and offer the latest updates.
How to check your current version
Want to confirm which version you're running? Here's how:
Open the Timeless desktop app.
Click the Timeless icon in your menu bar (Mac) or system tray (Windows), in the top-right (Mac) or bottom-right (Windows) of your screen.
Your current version number is shown in the menu, under About.
How to update manually
If you'd rather not wait for the automatic check, you can update at any time:
Open the Timeless desktop app.
Click the Timeless icon in your menu bar (Mac) or system tray (Windows).
Select About.
If an update is available, it will download and then prompt you to restart. Click Update to finish.
If you're already on the latest version, you won't see an option to update.
Prefer a clean install? You can always download the newest version directly from timeless.day and reinstall over your existing app. Your account and settings stay intact.
If the update doesn't work
If an update won't download or the app stays on an old version, try these steps:
Fully quit and reopen the app. Make sure it's completely closed first (quit it from the tray / menu bar, not just the window), then open it again to trigger a fresh check, the pop-up should appear if an update is available.
Check your internet connection. A stable connection helps the app fetch and apply the update.
Reinstall the latest version from timeless.day. Installing over your current app keeps you logged in.
On Mac: make sure Timeless has permission to update. If you moved the app out of your Applications folder, move it back, automatic updates work best from there.
